Got in a ride before the storm. Was down AC with wifey sunday and yesterday - on her suggestion we actually took bikes to ride on the boardwalk but was colder and windier than we thought so we bagged it - after gambling and losing a little and with nothing else to do down there we decided to come home early so I could get a ride in. Weather forecast said wouldn't start until after 12 but of course as soon as I head out it starts raining. Originally planned 2+ hrs but forget it - 1 was enough.

Sunday 2/21/2016.

Legs felt pretty fatigued following 2.5 hour ride the day before with no eating on ride. I was not going super fast, so was probably not going thru glycogen stores very quickly. Planned on 1 to 1.5 hours, but ended up going for 2 hours.

I thought I was going on a flatter route, but I still managed almost 1,500 feet gain. Those rollers/small hills add up.

Maybe the Strava title for this ride should have been "Thoughts of having a pork chop for lunch immediately following the ride helped get me home."

Met up with a buddy at Allaire this morning.
We had a good time. He has a stressful job and biking is good therapy.
While waiting for Barry to catch up he asked me “hey! Could you get my banana out?”
“Sure…gee that’s a mighty nice banana.”
“Nah its an ordinary banana”

Commute to and from. Nothing to tell other than on the way home I saw a jogger wearing only a speedo looking kind of shorts, and sneakers. Oh, and a reflective band across his chest. His bare chest. Brrrrr it wasn’t a warm spring day, we are talking pre-dawn this morning. Then a few blocks further some guy in a suit was walking down the yellow line in the road. I have seen this guy before. For a distance of about 5 blocks he walks the double yellow line. Weird?

So today I rode to find the Davis Family Cemetery. FAIL! I was prepared with @huffster Strava track AND a the Geocache coordinates installed in my Garmin provided by the Geocache within the Cemetery. Damn Garmin, never got closer then 1000 feet, it would just lock up and stall as I rode around for miles. I did get to ask four people that were out hiking and they all gave different directions and stories, saying, I've been there but now I don't remember. NOW I remember why I gave up Geocaching over a year ago. I need a hobby with better averages, I won't be back! Other than that it was a great day out in a new spot. I also got to stop by one of claudius smith's dens which was pretty cool. Great park with lots of unmarked side trails. I only rode about 7.5 miles on my search but it was great. Some of the trails are right through fields with big grass humps and ruts. Tough descents and even tougher climbs kept my legs a hummin'

So now I'm confused. I thought I rode wayawanda but after looking at my heat map and your rides i guess I didnt. There are apparently 2 lake wayawandas in NJ? Looks like I rode Kittatinny state park which has new lake wayawanda in it. Wtf?

The short story.............
In 1901 Camp Wawayanda was founded by Charles C. Scott on Wawayanda Lake in northern Sussex County, NJ. This property was sold in 1917 which made it necessary to find a new site for the camp. A suitable property (now KVSP) was found in Andover, NJ and Camp Wawayanda was relocated. This new site offered a natural lake (New Wawayanda Lake, now Lake Aeroflex) one mile long and a quarter mile wide, 330 acres of forest land, and an open campus bordering the lake. For 35 years, thousands of boys enjoyed the YMCA camping experience offered at Andover. In 1954, due to the encroachment of commercial enterprise, the Andover site was sold.

KVSP vs Waywayanda.....much different 😉 After riding the Bearscat 50 in Waywayanda I had to check my fillings in my teeth. It was like Allamuchy North with lots of extra rocks.

Looks like the bonus day last week was the Ides of February....(it doesn't really mean 15, but is soundz legit)

Think the ride data is entered up to this point. Everyone take a look - easiest way is to check the sorted ride data tab on the leaderboard, and check that i've 'liked' your ride posts.
