Luke, Do you know why bears don't hibernate in the winter in New Jersey?

whoa relax guy. I'm not doing anything but riding my bike in winter, albeit slowly and a bit like a freight train. I said I thought hunting was "great"(which I shouldnt have used, im just not completely against it), I don't hunt myself. I've hunted three times in my life, twice bow hunting...

Luke, Do you know why bears don't hibernate in the winter in New Jersey?

With all these staten island(no offense, just saying) bear hunters driving their luxury SUVs around north jersey back roads at dawn and dusk looking to blast an unsuspecting half hibernating bear who's been desensitized to the sight of man by living in overpopulated NJ, I'm surprised there are...

I'll see your bobcat.. Infact I've seen two in the last 10yrs, both on Newark watershed property. ...And I'll raise you guys(and girls) a porcupine in the parking lot for waywayanda/terrace pond on Clinton road AND a mink on the gravel(lower road) that goes through the Ken Lockwood gorge...

    North Jersey parks after rain

Well we are almost through the wettest season in recorded history here in the Garden state and everyone here on the message board has been effected in someway or another. Most people on here seem to realize that Sixmile and CR are in pretty bad shape, but with the rain we've been getting and...

Climbed to the top of the Delaware Water Gap, the hard way.

If your looking to head up to the gap for just a hike, I would recommend the PA side. This way your hiking up Mt. Minsi and looking over at Mt. Tammany(NJ side). There are many more lookouts/photo ops hiking up Minsi than Tammany and you can hook up with the appalachian trail as well...

    Clinton Rd, Haunted?

Its a great road and area, but all the crazy stories are mostly BS. I've been fishing, hiking and riding off Clinton Road for more than 10yrs and nothing weird has ever happened, ever. There is a bit of a gravity hill a mile or so past the little bridge with all the graffiti, but thats just...

    more weird stuff at 6mi

It has to be a bobcat. I'm pretty sure I saw it going into a bush when I came riding through the jaques lot about two weeks ago(and now even more sure that someone else might have seen it). I only saw the back end of it but it didnt move like a coyote. Also, you can usually see the scat here...

    Deer Park...more like Bear Park...

Seeing them is always a nice rush, and this one was only a youngin. If they were all this size, I'd never worry. Has anyone every seen the one who likes to hang around over near the terrace pond/backside waywayanda parking lot(clinton rd)? He's bigger than my xl bike( I think a fair guess...

    Deer Park...more like Bear Park...

So I woke up yesterday morning and it was just too nice for work and I promptly decided to call out sick*cough*. Since I had the entire day, I figured I'd try a place I haven't been to before. From the description, Deer park seemd like a good place to get my feet wet with riding the Allamuchy...

    has anyone ever noticed..

the sweet climbing wall and rope ladders/bridges near the powerlines opening while returning on the red trail to the 27 lot(bypassing twisties section)? I'm guessing it belongs to the kids camp near by(on Corelyous?). Its a little off the trail, I only noticed it when I was trying to get a...

Weight stopped dropping. Flab not gone.

Here's my 2 cents, since I'm bored at work and have a moment: Deadlifts, Deadlifts, and more Deadlifts. No kidding. Forget the diet and just eat as clean as you can normally. Don't stress about the food you eat, unless you know your constantly eating crap. Just make sure your getting...

    Hardtail 29er or FS

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. People here are cool and thats why I seem to find myself reading posts almost daily. I think I'm going to ride the 4300 until the wheels fall off or atleast until I can test ride a few FS bikes. I think spending alittle more and stepping up to a...

    Hardtail 29er or FS

So I just got into mountain biking a couple of months ago and after riding as much as the weather has permitted, I've come to two conclusions. The first is, damn I had no idea how much fun this would be. Never thought at 31, I'd be as excited to fly down trails on my bike and hit jumps, as I...
