Oh - they had Stowe PD in the parking lot one day writing tickets. And that was on a Friday around 11 with only a 1/3 of the lot full :smh: There was never a fee for parking until a couple of years ago when the lots were overflowing. But new WFH locals, people with Epic passes that are trying...

The worst by far is if you fall on a flat section (like you said) but even last week I had to un-buckle my back foot during a traverse and I kept post hole-ing until I grabbed a nearby tree branch for some assistance.

    Ask an automobile mechanic.

Not silly at all. Especially for a kid. I'm an old man and did rocker panels on our Ram 1500 (there is only a million of them out there) a couple of years ago because my kid liked the truck, the drivetrain had been serviced religiously and the suspension had been redone. ANY exercise in...

I haven't skied in more than a few decades but feel like I would want to be on skies on steep groomed and variable condition trails and some traverses into the woods (especially heal edge). But once in the woods or steep slopes with good grip the board is amazing.

And we had an EPIC Vail Fail Experience: I got the kids each a 3 day Epic Pass for Christmas. My wife and I skied the Thursday and Friday before MLK. The lines were short and we were getting scanned every time up the lift. My wife was using her phone with the Epic app which they are now...

Got to ski with 2 of the 3 kiddos last weekend in Stowe which was a treat as they are all off to work and college now. Conditions were very decent and the crowds weren't too bad considering it was MLK weekend (although we skipped Saturday). Some screen shots: Riley - woods Coop - side hit...

He had an older V8 gas in for work but it seems like the Puma turbo diesels are pretty robust from what I could gather from the language barrier talking to him. It's a Ford engine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Duratorq_engine Plus there is nothing left to the Land Rovers - just seats...

Here is a quick dump. No editing so a little dark on the ones taken by my daughter on the digital slr with telephoto lens. Hyena cubs - they made a den out of a termite mound. The amount of material the termites move would make even the most seasoned TM person impressed. The Rhinos and...

We were at the Londolozi Reserve which is part of the Sabi Sands which is just south of Kruger (I think but could be off). I would imagine the animals move between the reservations - such a beautiful area! Deboss did a video series of buying Land Rovers in South Africa and driving them thru...

That's a wild story! Wish there was a way to "repay" great teachers (also coaches, ski guides, and patrollers lol) later in life when you realize how impactful they were. A big "hell yeah" out to Mrs Preston! 🙌

Sorry for the safari and Land Rover picture overkill but I thought it might be interesting to some of you gearheads. Prototype electric powered 110. This motor was bolted to the stock LR gearbox and transfer case. The big bonus was I got to drive it a mile or so around! I've actually never...

Lots of Land Rovers on the safari section of the trip. The Puma powered LR 110 that we were in for 4 days Hard to tell but were were in some thick brush. The ranger was able to drive this 110 into ultra tight sections to look for the animals. There is a leopard and her cub in there. I...

The family and I were in Cape Town, South Africa over the Christmas break. Lots of neat cars and this only shows a few that I had time to take a picture of. Our tour guide said there are a number of these Cobra replicas that get together for local drives. I remember seeing them for rent too...

Very good point. I feel like the sweet spot at Stowe (our "local" mtn since the 90s') was when the season passes were $2k a person (right before Epic). For a family of 5 that wasn't able to go every weekend, I don't think I ever actually bought a season pass. But there were discounts on day...

I was at Bald Face a bunch of years ago. Conditions stunk with a big rain event the week before we got there. But our cat was from the east coast and the guides knew the terrain well enough that with some exploring and hiking we had some fun runs. Everything was fine for the 4 day trip except...

Just to clear up my previous post, I would not cut ropes on those upper sections of PC. Only saying if I was out there during strike week and noticed a lot of lower terrain closed with good coverage then I'd might poke around for an entrance into it (which I'm sure frustrated skiers were...

If only 18% of PC was opened I would feel safer sneaking into a closed run with good snow on it vs dealing with a trail packed with people. I've skied PC and I remember being way more scared of the funnel trail at the end of the day (Homerun I think) vs riding the top area with a couple of...

I guess I was propping up the 996 Turbo and comparing it with the more exotic Italian brands where maintenance gets a whole lot more complex and expensive. But when comparing to a front NA engine C5 Corvette or E46 BMW M3 you are totally correct.
