New E-bike legislation in NJ

I was out in alpine today on the fat bike, ran into a dog walker( tearing up the snow shoe cut trails with boots) and we had a conversation, she asked me how long it would be before the state decides to regulate mountain bikes. Her argument was both motorcycles, e bikes and mountain bikes use trails, they all have 2 wheels and suspension, whats the difference? I really wish stupid hurt…..

I was in an Iowa bike shop and was noticing an old road bike for sale had a registration sticker on it. Got into a long discussion with the owner about how the state used to require bikes be registered. I guess this anti-bike hate isn't new there.

I might pay $5 for my bike's s/n to be registered somewhere.
assuming they wouldn't reregister it w/o proof of sale or if it was reported stolen - but I guess Iowa isn't that big...and if you have sticker there isn't any reason to question it...

That dredged up an old memory. I registered my Fuji with my town police (Hackettstown) when I was a kid. I don't think it was required, it was so I might have a chance of getting it back if it was stolen.

Same here.

Every Schwinn i got from Bernie's in Hamilton was registered with the PD.
Every Schwinn i got from Bernie's in Hamilton was stolen.
Every Schwinn i got from Bernie's in Hamilton was never recovered.

Eventually i stopped getting Schwinn's from Bernie's in Hamilton (No fault of Bernie's of course).

I have vague memories of something similar decades ago... probably when I was a kid and we still lived in GA. No stolen bikes were ever recovered either.

Someone with access to the registration logs knew where to find an easy target
