Dry January 2026 (The Sober Thread)

Welcome and congrats to all. I started January 2021 and rode it out through June. Frankly, drinking just lost most of its appeal to me since that time. Maybe I hade 20 drinks the first year, 15 the next...... I think I had two drinks in all of 2024. The support from here was awesome. I haven't...

2013 suby Outback with 245k. Car runs good enough, cabin heater works well first 30 mins. After that the temp sensor rises while the vents blow cooler air. Happened twice in the past week, but not every time. Just replaced coolant and leaky radiator this summer. Possible thermostat?

What have you done to your car today?

Just changed my pads last night. Learned on a 65 Mercedes back in the day. My wife and kids think that its pure folly, but I hope I never reach that point in life when I pay to have someone do a brake job for me.

    Any Jam Band fans

Looking for some non-jam band jam recommendations as I transition into indoor cycling. I prefer to listen to longer jams. Television live at the Old Waldorf is a favorite. Some extended Radiohead cuts. I could listen to Neil Young's "Down by the River" for an hour and a half an not get bored...

    Chain Wax Discussion thread

I love my waxed chain. I used the crockpot method. I am due for a refresh now. Have you guys been doing the boiling water pour-over? The last Silca video I watched showed them boiling the chain in the water to get all the old wax and dirt off before re-waxing. I don't mind spending the time on...

    The DIY thread - DIYourself

I wish I could have taken a basic electrical wiring course in high school instead of that fourth year of Latin. (It was not quite dead yet when I was in HS.) My father was an electrician, so I saw how things "worked." Then again, when we sold their house the inspector noted multiple examples of...

In the end we both might have been right. I was low on coolant and the reservoir was dry so that was my bad. I filled it on Wednesday and smooth sailing until this morning, when my temp spiked again. Plenty of fluid in the radiator and re. Time to change the thermostat
