In all seriousness, I see the point of looking for a frame that supports larger tires if buying new. There are more options on the market now.
However, if the mission is more along the line of buy used / on a budget or continue using what I have then I'd think long and hard about actual use...

Sounds like a good excuse to upgrade if you want to. But if you're happy with the Mary, you might be able to swap a derailleur hanger on and add gears depending on how much you like to tinker.
I've used the Airport Ninja to travel with a size 56 cross bike and a large hardtail 29er. This style case does require pulling the fork, but that's just a few stem bolts so not that big of a deal.
There's an internal set of pockets that don't actually close, so the contents would go...
FWIW I just set up a 10 speed shifter and 9 speed cassette (both Shimano road) using alternate cable routing. Seems to run well in the stand, will see about the real world.
Agree that there's potential. And a lot of work to be done, IMO.
