Travel Bag Recommendations

I'm going to start flying w/ the bike in 2025 a few times a year so I need to get a great travel case. I've been flying w/ golf clubs for 20+ years w/o issues and at least there have found a hard case is overkill. I've never had one and have never had an issue. Thinking the same applies here?

I've been doing initial research on Amazon (I don't have to buy there, but it's usually a decent starting point). I can't believe there are offerings under $100, guessing they suck.

This one here seems pretty solid and in the midpoint of prices I've seen.

Ultimately I need to get 2, one each for me and the boy. What y'all been using, like, don't like, etc?

I have several friends who have an Evoc bag and love them. Can't go wrong there. If you're mechanically inclined, I can recommend the Post Transfer Case. It is a smaller footprint than the Evoc bags which makes it a little easier to travel with. In some cases, may save you on fees, too. I've been able to get a large full suspension trail bike in this case even if they don't fully endorse its ability to do this. The Orucase Ninja is a similar approach to this. Gets great reviews, but I have no experience with it.

I've used the Airport Ninja to travel with a size 56 cross bike and a large hardtail 29er. This style case does require pulling the fork, but that's just a few stem bolts so not that big of a deal.

There's an internal set of pockets that don't actually close, so the contents would go everywhere. I have a bag that holds all the small parts, tools etc., so everything stays organized. Hydration pack could easily serve that purpose as well.

My bikes have external routing with zip ties holding cables on, which makes packing pretty easy. Might have to wrestle more with any internal routing.

I didn't buy the padded wrap kit like what comes with the Post Carry, and instead just use pipe insulation and Velcro straps. The addition of the nicer wrap setup might tip the scales in favor of that bag over something like the B2.

If my bike is especially dirty I look for someplace to hose it off outside before disassembly, or worst case rinse it in the shower where I'm staying. Your Airbnb host will still give you a good review 😄

People I travel with mostly have Evoc cases and good things to say about them. I'm usually a little jealous that they don't have to play as advanced a level of Tetris like I sometimes feel I'm doing with the 29er, but we usually take a similar amount of time to pack up.
