Man, I can sympathize. After I got the cam on the Vette broken in, I was doing a final timing set-up and all of sudden I heard this racket from the front of the motor. I thought either the cam wiped or the timing chain was hitting. I was so pissed. Turned out that that the harmonic balancer disintegrated, but until I found that I thought the whole motor was going to have to come apart again. Not fun.

The same with most Jeeps and Raptors, but I agree the Cross-Treks look pretty ridiculous with those tires. I saw 2 or 3 over the weekend.

taking the trans out of the car is really the easy part....Taking the console out to get the shifter off...removing the entire exhaust system (bc the H pipe blocks the trans cross member) removing the E- brake cable...rolling the car off the lift and putting it up on ramps...that #$%^&* blows.

sadly, the dust seal came out of my tilton hyd throw out bearing and ended the fun. Glad I didnt sell my transmission jack just yet

Thanks....still needs some tuning...the timing isnt set right and the electric choke is acting wonky as the car warms up...but ill get to that crap later. Its funny, im sure you have seen the ad going around about winning the tesla powered 68 porsche 911......and its like wait what? tesla powered? so NO SOUND TRACK??? Without the sound...what the hell is the point? I mean when im on the road and i see a cool car drive by....first thing I do is roll my window down to hear it.

Same here. And when driving my car, 90+% of the time my windows are down and no music on.

hahah YES i saw that contest. My kids even know the drill:

  1. See nice car
  2. Lower radio/take out headphones
  3. Lower windows
  4. take picture and/or video (when safe to do so).
All steps above to be done simultaneously and quickly as possible.

A bit more traffic because it was a weekend and Pike and Wayne counties were yellow and allowing outside seating at restaurants so lots of city folk around. It made me appreciate having days off during the week. 517/206/519/23/6 into Port Jervis. Hawk's Nest was...interesting. A few minutes before we arrived a sportbike low-sided into a Lapis Blue MK7 Golf R. 97 was completely shut in the S-curves and they had to move tow trucks, FD trucks, and an ambulance up there. Shit show. The Golf R was driveable but banged up good. We turned around and came back on 521 to 206 to 209 to 80 to 46. 160 miles total and we were home by 2:30pm.

I'd really like to get out to Centralia soon. Maybe next Sunday if the weather is decent? Old Route 61 was covered, so that's gone, but it's still eerie in town and some of the roads around the area are really decent. But it's a long trip. I think 225 miles round trip and restaurants will be busy AF. Nothing like coal country to make you apprecaite NJ a little bit more.

At the risk of sounding contrarian (who, me?), I think that Hawks Nest is completely overrated. Sure its pretty, but its always a shit-show of some sort, the run through is over in 20secs., and I've seen horrendous things happen with some newer riders getting in over their heads. Some of roads through Stokes on the other hand are very nice, and usually empty. I stopped riding Hawks Nest years ago. It used to be good for pictures leaned over and throwing sparks with the knee-pucs, they make ones with titanium bits in the plastic that throw sparks, fuckin annoying trying to pass someone with those on the track, I think most clubs ban them now. I usually go straight to the PA side and ride the empty roads there. Riding for me isn't a social thing, the less traffic the better. Its about getting into your own head, concentrating on the ride, hitting the corners right, and seeing some cool shit along the way.

Gaads, I remember when I could lift those top loaders by myself. Those and the Chrysler 4-speeds weigh 1000 pounds. Muncies were like a paper weight lol. Now it's all can do to bend down to crawl around on a creeper lol

100%...cast iron transmission...where the hell you see that anymore lol? And I have bench pressed it with a buddy a couple of times...but im done with that noise.
