her: my heating pad broke, I need a new one
me: seriously, what is wrong with you? I have one at the house I never use, take it an order a new one off amazon
My mother is FAR more of a danger to society that I am on my bike......which makes sense, because to her generation, drinking and driving was no big deal.

Reading thread is a time capsule of “life and thoughts as the pandemic unfolded”. NYC is a shitshow right now and I’m so incredibly glad my last commute and office day was March 5th. The Westchester hot-spot isn’t growing as fast as the city because everyone here is being very good about social distancing. Our local grocery store has cleaning procedures, limits the # of people allowed to shop, hands out gloves and wipes when you enter, installed plexiglass in front of the cashiers and dedicates the first hour to senior and immune-compromised only. And they also deliver now. Families are keeping to themselves and when you are out walking people will cross the street to maintain distance. We have Zoom social events and even the teens are good about being home. We still have ~20 COVID cases in the village of Pelham Manor (and that’s probably underestimated). Friends who work in the NYC hospital system say they will be out of beds by next week. My new plan should anything happen to me/fam is probs going to be a hospital in CT (I’m 15 mins from the border).

When the gov shutdown schools. You should see how locked up they have the high school. Only one way in/out. I actually didn't see the lot either but ran into a few riders that told me about it and they were parking at Sanderling. I of course was entering at the old JVC lot trailhead headed for Ancients.

Would ya look at that... he's a real boy! While I don't doubt his account... Its hard to use a hospital in the city to apply to the whole country. The population density on that island doesn't match anywhere else in the country. Im hearing many first hand accounts that NJ hospitals are status quo for patients. I'm still holding to my thoughts that if we did absolutely nothing there still wouldn't be any hospital overruns. Remember since coronavirus was announced up to 60 million people have been affected by the regular flu... And up to 60000 deaths from those illnesses. Where is the sensationalism for the regular flu?

Note that social distancing is also preventing the spread of the flu, and herpes.
Next tell me about how many people died of TB last year. Which of course there is a vaccine for, but it is shocking to
call out the raw numbers in comparison. Especially when it is going down each year, as opposed to measles....

Are any of those first hand accounts in Bergen County? My first hand accounts have been the opposite of status quo, far from it. Check Holy Name in Teaneck, Hackensack Medical, and Valley in Ridgewood.
