don't land on your heal.
always run on asphalt instead of concrete. cinder paths (ie columbia trail or D&R even better)
lots of drills available to change style https://www.facebook.com/runrxfit
in a nutshell, fall from you hips with your body in-line to ankles, just drive your knee up, and drop your foot
for a forward/midfoot strike. the only feeling is pulling your knee up. no push, no stride out.
the more ya lean, and the higher the knee pull, will increase cadence and speed.
you'll feel like you are going slower, when you'll actually be going faster with less effort.
also, if looking for a training plan, strava premium members have access to free plans with race specific date/distance.
if you are going to run a lot (like more than 5) get two pairs of trainers, different brands. The small differences will prevent
repetitive stress. Do not train in minimalist shoes - those are fine for a 5k or trail race.
Track sneaker use - 350 miles max, then they are relegated to yard work. Unless you weigh under 140, probably could get a bit more.
Yeah, I always drink it that way but bottles go quick.Neat? I don't see ice. That must be some good tequila. Respect.
Yes, weight weight and yes weightDoesn't the 429 come with Fox34?
Curious to know why you went with 32... weight saving?
No dropper?
Going clipless this year?
Are those RR? Aren't they XC tires? Would have thought you would go with something with bigger knobs?
Come on.... put some fun in there. Dropper please.Yes, weight weight and yes weight
That crank is crazy light, a full quarter pound less than the XX1. I would have used it but the Pivot already has a 24mm PF BBCarbon bra!
no.... carbon brassiere.... you should wear one 😛That crank is crazy light, a full quarter pound less than the XX1. I would have used it but the Pivot already has a 24mm PF BB
I thought this was the wrong technique and distance runners should land their foot under their knee as opposed to hips
In HS our coach took us to a running store in Millburn or Chatham and I ended up spending $300 on 3 pairs with my hard earned dishwasher salary. No sub for good sneakers, especially for me as I need stability models. Damn that was a lot of money in 1985...Probably about a decade ago I started wearing minimalist shoes for everything, work, everyday use, running, etc. They took a little bit to get used because my stride changed and I was using a lot more muscles and things were stretching in ways they haven't stretched in years, but they completely took away my joint pain and shin splints.
Fast forward to now when I started a training plan for the half marathon and @Patrick is right, once I started increasing the milage my feet started to feel like they were taking a beating with the minimalist shoes. So I went to a running store that all the locals love, they checked out my stride and feet and recommended a pair of Brooks. After I put about 60 miles in them I decided I hated them, all my joints started to hurt like they did years ago, my left knee started to really hurt (it barely has any meniscus in it), I think they started to make me land on my heel without me noticing it. So I tried a brand called Altra. They are kinda like a padded minimalist sneaker. Big toe box, zero drop, and they've worked great. Now my feet and joints are all happy again. I don't know how people run in regular running sneakers, I can't even walk in them without being uncomfortable.
yeah it over accentuates, but makes it easier to get the right "feel".Agree, sort of - i don't pull my ankle that high up, just the knee, and it drops in right under me.
to go faster, i just lean more. that RunRx stuff is really good, cause they are targeting
distance runners.
I'm trying to learn how to swim. Even more complicated, lol.yeah it over accentuates, but makes it easier to get the right "feel".
When did running get as complicated as a golf swing...
The pace certainly will be. I started riding in this area, so you'll be fine. There's a lot of joking about it based on other threads. It's a fun place to ride.Hartshorne this Saturday - is it super-beginner friendly?
Steepest park in NJ. There's also mountain lions and land mines.
I hope to god I see someone with full dh armor and bear spray based on these threads. I dont think there's moubtain lions but there have been some shifty looking deer lately.Steepest park in NJ. There's also mountain lions and land mines.
Hahaha. He's joking. Where have you ridden so far? It's probably a mid level park, but not rocky like northern nj, so a little less painful if you fall. You can always walk the harder parts. It's a no drop (nobody gets left behind), casual, beginner ride.Ok. not for me lol I will wait for an easy group ride...
