Lewis Morris

Not the only one, I run a 1x9 as well...

That's right. And you're actually good, so I guess that lends some credibility to my decision. But you ride a hardtail right? So you can get away with a minimalist chain guide device? Sometimes I feel my blackspire "sandwich" plates just aren't very racy, but I need something good to keep that chain in place with rear suspension (in fact I lost my chain with around 2miles to go yesterday).

Clutch,

That's funny, I think I made that map last year at some point?

You described this year's course. Last year's course was slightly different. Where you have C-B-A, last year it actually went C-F, then at F it went left 90 degree on an uncolored trail in the map. Then 90 degrees left again, then onto yellow out to B-A.

And you're actually good, so I guess that lends some credibility to my decision.

Well, I'm not sure I'd go that far, I get my butt kicked just as bad as everyone else does:hmmm:

But, if anyone noticed at all, I got the holeshot at Lewis Morris and held it until the first bridge crossing, with a 32t chainring, so there is at least some proof you can go plenty quick on a 1x9😀

-Jim.

Half the sport class pics are up, Im editing the second half now. I went to my first intervals excercise class tonight and it kicked my butt. Im all lightheaded and can't see well. (im a fatty 240lb 5'11" now, today was first excercise in 18 months). So, looks like tommorrow morning for remainder of sport and afternoon for expert.:mad2:

EDIT: Lap 2 and 3 of Sport is uploading now. Pics are getting cooler too IMHO
Only 171 shots left to edit WOOO HOOO.

okay i jumped that log, it wasn't too bad but the 2nd log caught me off gaurd. i still made it over but i can't bunnyhop the whole thing. it slows me down a lot still.

i did the race in 44 minutes, i did it today in 38.02, i dropped 6 minutes by relaxing and not being nervous.
my body sucks at adreniline, i cramped up BAD right away on race day.

Thats part of racing. Learning how to drown out everything else and just ride. I find the longer I'm in the gate waiting for the start, the worse for me. I also try to keep blinders on for the first few minutes of the race so I dont totally blow up and go to bonks-ville on the first lap.

Burning the midnight oil here, but Expert class just went to JPG batch processing, and will be uploading in about 20 minutes. I only stayed for the first 2 laps of Expert, frankly, I was wiped out tired.

Hope you guys like the shots, I apologize to the people I missed. There's just no way to nail 1000+ shots in a row without a mistake or mis-timing especially where riders are bunched up and nearly on top of each other.

Great work. People, buy this dude's photos so he's encouraged to come out for every race. Nathan -- You know the next race is 6/15 at Stewart, right?

thanks
but check out nate's pictures, i'm sure nate will come to all the events he can if its worth his time.

Yeah, I can't wait to check out his pics. However I cannot access them from work as blogs are blocked. Darn😡 I probably should get to work anyway.😀 Thanks again!

All we need to do is put Nate on his wife's huffy and send him on one of the downhills at lewis morris. The next day he'll be at the bike store and bringing nashbar catalogs to the bathroom. 😀

Pics came out great Nathan, if your are still alive when I finally decide to get married, you hired. I'll pay you in charleston chews 😀

Have you looked at the Evil/E.13 chainguides? They pretty much rule to the downhill/freeride world. I've run them on a couple of bikes, and I've NEVER dropped a chain when using one. They are simple to setup, too. They make a lightweight model for DH racing, that would be perfect for an XC bike, especially if you remove the minimalist bash guard

No results

Stuck around for a couple of hours. Apparently some sort of problems that they're still having and was told they'll be posted on the marty's website when sorted out.

My 1st race. 47 yr old doing beginner. I had a blast. Felt good. Could have done another lap or 2 I think. (I say now that I'm all rested and recovered!) Bummer took me so long to finally do one.

Going to try to make the long haul from the Jersey shore up to Stewart's next week. Have to be home for work at 3 so could only do beginner again. Wouldn't mind trying the 2 lap sport though.
