Beginners group ride

haha, I actually got it on my elbow from falling in the bushes more then likely. When I was at 6M last wednesday I had a tumble going up an incline and I lost traction, did a spin out, couldn't clip out in time, and down I went. All considered I'm actually happy it's just my elbow and not more spread out, but I guess that's what I get for not wearing my long sleeve jersey

it will be a while before i'll be confident in riding in clips. and yeah I usually wear knee high socks and long sleeves for any scratches from falls. but I've read all over that these poision ivys have victimized a lot of people in 6mR lol

any close animal encounters here? yesterday i saw 4 rabbits and a deer cross the trail right in front of me

I've seen a few small vermin, but nothing out of the ordinary. You should expect rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, etc while out biking.. it's when you get large deer, or even bears when things can get a little hairy lol

i dont think ive heard any news of bear sightings in 6mR. Ive read somewhere in IG that theres a fox?

Saw a small fox once on red right before the hikers only trail. And I always see beavers at the fields.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything large at 6M.. heard stories about the fox though lol. I've come accross some large deer at Cheesequake, and you won't see bear unless you are riding a trail in NW Jersey

yesterday I wasnt too sure whether it was a fox I saw, i saw tail end of it and it was quite small and color white. It could either be young deer or yes a fox. Are they known to attack? If yes Im bringing my dewalt hammer

I had a coyote run across the trail right in front of me a month ago. It was on red by the 3 "dips". Heading towards canal. It probably lives near the brook and hunts for rabbits and stuff in the field.

Me and my buddy at yesterday's ride!

Whereabouts is this hikers only trail?

At the white/red split, after the small climb (after the two bridges) you come to an open-ish area. That is where I saw the fox. Keep going and it splits again. To the left is the hikers only trail. There's a small metal sign that indicates hikers only.

That's likely leftover from older days, all trails are multi-use now

crossfingers the weather changes, its been inconsistent with forecasts anyway. But im definitely hitting 6mR Sat am around 7-8am
check the trail conditions here, 6MR doesn't handle multiple days of rain well
it may seem fun to ride on mud or what you're suppose to do with a mtb, but it seriously damages trails

It will probably be best to stay off any trails in NJ till Wed/Thurs, they will all need time to recover.

No rain until tomorrow afternoon though and it's humid out. Any of you guys still thinking of riding early tomorrow morning? I might...or at least scope it out.

fox and coyote most likely wont attack unless rabid or have young nearby. Leave them alone and they usually leave you alone.

As for conditions at 6M, I wanted to hike there today and check it out but did something else instead. Am thinking it wont be ready for tomorrow morning though and its best to stay off the trails. Any damage done will need to be repaired by volunteers.

Thanks! May check out CR then.
