6th Annual CRANKS AROUND THE CAMPFIRE 8/26-8/28/2016

Thanks to all the organizers of Cranks - we had a great time and will be back in 2016 for sure!

Highlights: A Friday night ride where lots of folks had never ridden either in the dark, at Allamuchy (or anywhere that rocky) or BOTH. There was a lot of crashing but way more laughter and awe. Putting faces to some of the MTBNJ posters - Robson, Schilling, etc ... very nice folks all! Catching up with Vreelands - though Jim was on off on his bike forever. The man is indefatigable (Sam is a saint 🙂 ) . Riding with lots of kids and skilled ladies and fun guides ... bear sightings, s'mores, hot showers and rocks.

Lowlight: Not enough time to ride more! And this mysterious rash that looks like a lot of bug bites but that the prednisone isn't stopping from itching 🙂

You guys are missing all the fun!!
Big thanks to Biknben of Cognitive Endurance Sports Coaching for providing 2 clinics this weekend! Speaking of which, if you go to post #90, you will see a rider named Jim who is about to roll down a large rock on his fat bike. I cant help noticing he is in the perfect "attack position", elbows and knees out, crouching with weight centered between the wheels. I learned that in Ben's class. Hey Ben, I am not trying to be the teachers pet but can I at least get a gold star for being the only one who noticed Jim is a good rider?

Congratulations to Woody who won some swag with his original entry "Earthworm". Woody will be receiving a bread bag which holds, among other items, a goody from our title sponsor Princetontec.com. Their adventure lighting products are tops and made in the good old U.S.A.. Woody, hook up with Dan to claim your prize!

If you ever need bulk ice, check out The Ice Factory in Landing,NJ. They took pity on our sad, we had an ice snafu eyes, and provided 400 lbs. of ice at a real nice scouting discount.
They are located just off of Route 80, same exit as Cliffs ice cream. Thanks!

Yippee! I'm just happy to ride a great trail named Earthworm! Please donate my winnings to the Boy Scout biking fleet, as I'm sure they can make good use of all that awesome swag.

By the way, so glad that I was finally able to attend this event this year, even if only for one day. Great venue and very well run!
Thanks Cranks!

Anything I do is purely by accident.

Big thanks to Dan the man for this great event. My kids and I loved this event last year, and it helped to turn a few non-biking kids into MTB'ers!!
Are there dates selected for this event this year so that we can start spreading the word and get it on people's calendars?

I would assume it's Aug 26-28, but @PortlandRider would have to confirm that. I also cannot wait as this is my favorite biking event of the year!
