2 years in the making and my colorado build is starting

Yes , it is a walkout basement with a large set of sliding doors and a full bath , bedroom, living room & will also have a "special" GROW ROOM 😉 The basement will have a nice view as well .
There is a structural slab going in the garage because i wanted storage under it , but in turn is becoming a pain in the ass and i maybe should have just backfilled it .

that slab thing is tough...a commercial firm would charge a fortune, but it wouldn't be an issue. is access from the basement or stairs from the garage?
perhaps just a shelf, say 4' deep, 4' high? i have other ideas!

Its more beam placement then anything … THE "engineer " of course figured for 36' decking , which is not an issue but , he knew it was going to a high altitude community and should have checked it . I will cost me an additional $ 14000.00-17000.00 to have them air lifted in , plus a crazy ass road tax from the mid west where they are shipped from . I think they have it solved know . They are going to build a temporary wall under the corrugated steel and pour concrete then pull out the temporary wall "WHICH WAS MY FUCKN SUGGESTION THE FIRST CONVERSATION I HAD WITH THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER " sorry this is a bit of a sore spot for me

jeez - i kinda pictured your method and it was more of a blasting/positioning problem with the terrain....
they were going to put in a permanent structural steel deck to pour over?

although some video of a helicopter delivering a huge beam would have garnered some 'wow' points!

Rich did you contemplate about using pre cast modular foundation. That could of set you up to get the shell up before weather hits. Maybe they don't fly in Boulder IDK.

Yes I thought about using that type of foundation , the costs were significantly more and were. Challenge due to the build site . This whole thing is wearing on me , we are so far off schedule because of a little of everything . My framer wants to push through and get this fuckr standing and I might just do it .
Yes we are pouring over a steel floor system because I wanted storage under the garage . Should have just backfilled it
I fly out there on the 11 of October and and will have some answers .

image.jpeg I'm in Germany for a birthday and just recieved some pics from my foundation company , they will be pouring next week , we are a few weeks behind but ... We will push for dry in before the 1st of the year , looks like I will head out there for a few weeks in December to help with the framing . This is good because I can stick with my exit plan for NJ

I guess this is my neighbor now

My fiancée didn't think the house was big until she took a look at these pics , I have been working for this for about 15 years . I thought I would be in utah but glad I decided Colorado & glad all the $$ sacrifices I have made in the past are showing there true colors now .

The slab has been a mess , advanced concrete is charging me 24 g for the steel work and the decking . At this point we have all approvals so I will not risk changing anything

This thread reminds me of this song...

Higher Ground
Stevie Wonder
Lyrics
People keep on learnin'
Soldiers keep on warrin'
World keep on turnin'
'Cause it won't be too long

Powers keep on lyin'
While your people keep on dyin'
World keep on turnin'
'Cause it won't be too long

I'm so glad that he let me try it again
'Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach my highest ground

Lovers keep on lovin'
Believers keep on believin'
Sleepers just stop sleepin'
'Cause it won't be too long
Oh no

I'm so glad that he let me try it again
'Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach my highest ground

Woo!
Till I reach my highest ground
No one's gonna bring me down
Oh no
Till I reach my highest ground

Don't let nobody bring you down (they'll sho 'nough try)
God is gonna show you higher ground

Finally! You guys get a song stuck in my head I actually like. Win! 🙂

do they use a membrane system for sealing the exterior of the foundation? or just a mop-on coat?
