2 years in the making and my colorado build is starting

We had to get a crane to complete the 4 hour well test which was causing a permit issue , thank god it passed

you down to ride Saturday morning? Im getting dropped off at University Bikes in the morning. possibly riding from there to the Betasso Preserve.
 
I fly out sat morning ,riding jungle on Sunday . Other then the haze from the wild fires out west it should be a great weekend here in Boulder

The fact that your not allowed to do the work and get inspections is kind of un american . Because of this people are pushed into hiring guys lic by the state , not everyone can do this financially & it takes away the ability if your handy to save some money and do it yourself . Im sure there are people in CO that want to get out of renting and have looked into purchasing but after finding out they can't complete the work themselves I'm sure its a bust .I have seen pictures of work on mtbnj that is better then some legal contractors . SO If its like that out there I'm sure it will change here eventually . I guess i just feel like if you own it … its your right to DIY.
I will be licensed there by december but that won't do anything for my build , The house will be standing and dried in by late OCT so I'm excited to see it . I don't have kids so its like my baby , I'm pretty stoked to become a canyonite

Can't you do the work under someones licence. I'm sure you can pay an electrician and he can inspect it and let you work under his.. Check that out, it is legal..
 
If someone came to me and said I'm from another state but would like to pay you for your license and we as homeowners would like to do the work , I would tell them no . Why have the liability for a couple of grand . The building market in co has been exploding the past few years and people can charge what they want because of the demand is so high ,I have had framing quotes that are 80 thousand difference , where I would charge about 7o or 80 here they are charging double that .. Because they can and people are paying it . I have been told to use only contractors from on the mtn and stay away from the flat land especially Boulder

I hope my cousins company is somewhat close to what you're looking for in the future. would be dope to get a "finders fee" flights for a year! 😉
 
Looks like my foundation company will be starting to set forms next week , Seems that they have a crew that just works at high elevations and they are just finishing up in Breckenridge. Thats exciting . I met with a good friend last night to discuss my project timing with the altitude and weather .My friend does some of the largest most expensive builds in NJ & I have alot of respect for him . We both came to the conclusion that trying to continue the build and have the home dried in by early november is a gamble . So unwillingly after we have foundations set i will shut it down for the winter . Which in turn pushes my migration to the west a few months off . IMAG3890.jpgIMAG3889.jpgIMAG3887.jpgIMAG3886.jpg
 
Is the entire foundation closed off for a basement or is the house going to rest on concrete posts? Can't tell since no aerial, but at least I see some wall sections. The spot looks awesome BTW! Lucky you. Good luck with it!
