Barack Obama 2008?

Wazu I understand where you are coming from, but wasnt teh interweb created by al gore to surf porn and discuss things on forums? 😀

Writing off dirt rag based on maurice's point of view? I met him a few times, and honestly he struck me as a bit of a douche. I still dig his mag, subsrcibe religiously (since forever) and feel it is one of the best out there. Its all I subscribe to actually. Maybe I am not strong enough in my convictions, but I cant let my view of one dude shadow the fact that the rag is a great thing for this sport and makes me happy when it shows up.

Okay, Okay, I admit it..... 😱 I eat Frosted Flakes and I sneak peaks in Dirt Rag and even buy it from time to time when no one is looking! That's where I got the 69er idea for my bike. But I was only making the point that they'd have more customers without making a specific political distinction. That was always my original point to begin with. Too bad one can't really hear another's inflection in the voice when typing because you guys would see that I don't really care as much as it seems about the whole political issue.

Addendum: Shaggzz is still dead sexy! 😉

I agree with you Wazu that politics really has no place in a mountain bike magazine. I lean to the left but that's irritating to me, regardless.

Steve - I didn't think Obama was a slam dunk by any means. Iowa was 1 show. Now Iowa and NH were poison for Dean 4 years ago, but then Dean should have been winning NH, not losing and doing war cries after the fact.

I still don't know if America is ready for a black president, or a woman either. Obama probably one Iowa because of the stupid Oprah factor. I don't think NH has no brain oprah followers as Iowa and I am sure that played a factor.

Why am I even writing this, I barely follow this crap...

I would agree that Iowa's being in Oprah Land played a role. But I think you're walking into trouble with "no brain oprah followers" comment, especially as it pertains to politics.

I follow it like college football. I never actually watch, just read the headlines on newspapers people are reading on the train and what various bloggers say about it. It's like getting your news through a game of Internet Operator.

I COULD BE WRONG, but isn't Halle Berry, Vannessa Williams, Barrak Obama, Tiger Woods and others HALF black? Why are they the first 'Blacks' to accomplish whatever? Weird man.

ps. see, now we're talking race....tisk tisk I'm tellin yas.

norm, the pundits were predicting a double digit win for Obama in NH, which in my book would have been a slam dunk.

i am not sure i agree with the country not being ready for a (half) black or woman president. i just don't know if either of those candidates is the right one to fill the role. *shaggz musing* would we say that if Colin Powell were running *muse off*

wazu - you really know how to make a boy blush.

I don't listen to the pundits, so didn't know what they were saying. They're generally wrong much of the time though which is one reason I don't listen. Another is that I'm more of a Bar Room Poltics kinda guy. But yeah, 10 point margin of victory would have been big. Interesting that the delegates were 9 each, and when you count super delegates, whatever they are, Obama actually wins NH 12 to 11.

I am not saying he couldn't be president or isn't capable, just is a America ready? My aim wasn't to start the race conversation, but why ignore it, don't we think it is an issue?

Its a shame that the election will be a issue of "its time for a woman (or black) president"...

Wouldn't it be nice to actually be able to select the best person based on qualifications, values, past & current stance on issues, etc?

Personally, I'd vote for Condoleezza Rice in a heartbeat if she were running 😀

It's only that way if you make it that way. You have the ability to vote however you feel fit. Whatever issues you feel strongest about should make the most difference, not what the media makes it out to be.

I agree DD, it is a shame that it comes down to that. Where is Ross Perot when you need 'em?

Yep, the first time anyone thought of whether Hillary's sex or Barrack's race would be factors in how electable they were was when someone who gave a shit about how "electable" someone is opened their mouth. Honestly, I don't even blame the media but rather people's weaknesses in voting their ideals. NEVER COMPOMISE. A vote is never wasted.

Problem is people don't like change

We are definately ready for any color or sex to be elected as long as they can bring both sides of the aisle together. I mean that. I just doubt that any person is capable of that unfortunately.🙁

I don't think there's such thing as a person who can bring the whole US together. There's far too much bias and partisianship -- the best anyone can do is get 5% of the other side. 58% is a landslide victory. But that doesn't mean there's no candidate out there who can actually solve half the shit that's going on. On the contrary there's a couple I see that can make real positive change. Sadly no matter how good he/she does some will never see it.

A key factor in how effective our next presidnet will be comes down to whom they chose to surround themselves with or nominate. Look at the current administration. It includes [or included]creeps like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, and Ashcroft--very influential men who pretty much run [ran] the country.

With Hillary, you're bound to see some members of the 1st Clinton Administration. As far as Obama goes, I have no clear knowledge of whom he aligns with. Hey, with Edwards, you could possibly see Al Gore work his way back into public service.
