Lewis Morris Challenge

I'm planning to go on Tue afternoon, around 5-5:30. Parking on the small lot on the road, by the crosswalk/flashing lights.
 
Hmmm, I'm going to have to hit it Monday or Tuesday morning. Maybe Noonish at best.
 
Mike and Chris -- Great riding with you guys, sorry to slow you down. Bill, good ride, and Paul from Marty's, thanks for the other tips on the race course changes. Seems it's not just a reverse course, there are a couple of critical changes. We lost you on the last leg of the finish, we banked left when I think we should have gone straight...if anyone has garmin data on the new course, can you share?

Paul, not sure if you're on this forum....But wow. Nice riding.

I can do Tuesday @ 5:30 - I'll PM you my cell - not sure of where the lot is that you are talking about - Do u know the course?
 
I'll be riding the race course, or my best approximation of it, with a couple friends tomorrow at 9:30 from the sunrise lake lot. Cat 2 pace.

Anyone interested feel free to tag along if the pace suits your needs.

I would be happy to show anyone the course on Tuesday 7PM,wheels down. That will be the longest day of the year so there will be enough time for 2 laps. Meet at the rear parking lot. That lot is actually more convenient for those coming from the south .It avoids the trip through downtown Morristown.
Get off 287 at Maple Ave in Bernardsville, cross back over 287 and make a right turn (traffic light) onto 202 north. Go to Tempe Wick road and make left turn. About 2 or 3 miles,go past the entrance to Jocky Hollow and as you go down a steep hill look for a gravel driveway on the right which takes you to the rear parking lot. There is a gate and sign but easy to miss.
I will be going the way they ran the course in reverse in 07'.

What's different in the course this year? Is it actually the same as 3 years ago? Expert race at 3 laps will be like 1:33.
 
Great question Norm, my first race there was just last year, so I've been riding last year's course, and then switched it up today, thinking it was a simple reverse. Then I ran into a Marty's rider (Paul) and he said there were a few different changes which he tried to show us. The Dark Horse guys kept pace with him, but us slow pokes lost them right around the point which would typically be the switchback just after the bridge you hit after the fire road climb up from the pavilion (not the first bridge, but the second).

I'm still unclear on the whole course, but presume the start will still be in the vicinity of the pavilion, but going back towards Sunrise Lake, then up the flowy section that's usually the fun finish. I don't think I'm helping here, but someone told me at Marty's yesterday that it's the course that was originally run many years ago.
 
Yeah I figured it was the old course. It's almost the reverse that you've been doing, but 5/6 of the way through you come down the steep switchbacks. There you need to bear right, go to the fire road, take a left, go downhill, left onto the start of last years course. Rooty section at the top, down that washed out section to the bridge. Don't go over the bridge, instead go right around the bottom of the hill to the s/f.
