that wasnt your fs specialized was it?

yup.

I called my friend at marty's and he informed me that spec does not warrenty suspension pieces. He said a new link is around $100. Lame that they dont warrenty it, but oh well.

I guess alum is only good to the teens, that really sounds fishy that they won't warranty that. I for one would contact the big S for further reveiw. Are you still in warranty?

dude that sucks but as you say good thing it happened in the lot instead of on a bit of a drop...

I read the warrenty and it says that suspension componets are covered under the 1 year limited warrenty which my bike has passed. But I would be futher f'd since I didnt by the bike new from a shop, its a 2009, but I bought the frame used last december.

Matt, ill contact them anyway for the hell of it, but im not expecting much.

$100ish, whatever not going to cry about it, but I dont see why a suspension link would be any covered than the rest of the frame. Shock I understand, bearings, etc...

Same thing happened to me on my Cannondale... (in warm weather!) Had to carry my bike 3 miles out of Wawayanda... Seen it also happen many times on Turners, Ventanas, etc. at roughly the same spot on the swingarm... One might think that the rear shock bears the strain, except once that shock loads up, the swingarm is under enormous stress ... (kinda like a golf club shaft just prior to striking the ball).

On top of that, aluminum (when it fatigues) snaps like a pretzel...

Bummer... I hope that $100 is at least cost...

Winter is here.... time to pull out that steel 29er and ride snow!!

Peace,
BB

That's just your chainstay that broke, not a suspension component. Spec. should cover that 100%.
