The 7th annual darkhorse 40!!

ok, so we have a little lull in H2H action but that doesn't mean there isn't anything on the horizon. the 7th annual Darkhorse 40 rapidly approaches!

when: august 16th

where: stewart state forest

what time: race starts promptly at 9:00am packet pick-up closes at 8:30. please make an effort to get there on time.

some basic info and some new things for 2009

registration includes, t-shirt and bad ass post race BBQ and kegs of adult refreshment!

two 20 mile laps featuring the same great stewart singletrack. 90% of the course or more is on singletrack

there are 3 fully stocked aid stations on the course. they will have water, heed, banana's, cookies, etc....

hidden preem cards. there will be laminated index cards with numbers on them hidden on the trail. you can redeem these at the awards ceremony for cash and prizes!

CASH FOR EXPERTS AND PROS THIS YEAR!!!

300 1ST PLACE PRO!
200 1ST PLACE EXPERT IN EACH CATEGORY!
great prizes as well for all categories, medals, pint glasses, etc...

some other things to note....

yes its the same weekend as windham. if you race cat 2 or 3 the windham race is on FRIDAY. race up there if you want and come out to the 40 on sunday.
don't want to do 40 miles? partner up and do it as a team!!
the cat 1 race at windham is saturday at 8:00am. ick!
we apologize for the scheduling conflict. we had our dates posted and locked in and USA cycling moved windham. oh well

we have a lot of fun putting this race on and look forward to seeing everybody out there again this year! get signed up early and don't hesitate to post up questions or comments!
 
Co-ed team for me. I just hope my partner doesn't beat the piss out of her face like at KSVP:getsome:. Anyone have a SS to lend her..?..JK but seriously. This will be fun. Pre-reg later this week.

i got my 26er SS,she can use it if she allright with 26er!!🙂

Chainsaw and I are going to kick some a$$. I gotta get a unicorn kit so we are the best dressed team there!!

I can't ride a 26er, gotta be a 29er.... If anyone has a SS 29er to lend a SS wanna be let me know 🙂 I've graduated to hurting myself in races (ala punching myself in the face) instead of hurting my bike so I promise I'll be gentle 😉
 
Come on Luke, me and you, TNT. Ill do the first 20, then follow you with my paintball gun for the last 20 to keep you motivated 😀

we reshuffled some of the categories because it was getting a little out of control and they didn't really have "fields" last year. 2 people doesn't justify a category. how old are you? sign up in 16-29 you can see what its like to beat a bunch of older guys with jobs!

You'll have tons of fun, it's a great race, Mike and the boys do a superb job!!

As for prep, a few 3-4 hour endurance-pace rides should help. I would just pace yourself and have fun, take advantage of the aid stations, and rest when you need to!! See you out there!!
