Allaire Conditions

Monday was great, only the parking lot was slick at 10am and trails were running great, fresh powder and we were on non-fatties. Started to soften/warm up by noon, so might be crunchy now where not bare ground.

Did a quick snowshoe in Allaire today. Some alpine touring skiiers in there as well- followed some of those wonderfully thick tracks- thanks guys! There’s a thick crust over about 8-10”. The crust cracked with each step so it was slow going. Would be tough to fatbike in until more tracks are made. It would be like pedaling an icebreaker.

as of today allaire is a NOGO. tried with my Fatty "Tommy Boy" complete failure
What was the problem? Your picture looks like that would totally be rideable. I'm assuming wherever it wasn't packed down with snowshoes or something like that would be impossible. Pretty much like all the parks right now. 😐

I would think Allaire is similar to the Pine Barrons right now as I passed Allaire a few times over the last two weeks. Allaire was far worse snow and ice wise vs. my local hike.

Here are pictures of yesterday’s hike. The snow is essentially ice and takes some work to move through it. Intermittent slipper ice is still occasionally showing up. I had been choosing to save my hip from a fall and hike when I can!

If you are on the receiving end of rain tonight, that will clear a lot of the ice/snow.

I was just there and yeah like Jon said and Utah said no go pretty much. I was there Sat also got 3 miles in with hike and bike and had more fun on the side of the road on dirt and little snow.
Lewmo was ok yesterday and and fell 5 times going downhill catching ruts off the snowmobile tracks. But it was awesome!
I’ll be gearing up for dirt road / urban / beach adventures galore with the Fatastic fattie.

Preliminary post for interest: Guided tour ride Feb 28th/March 1st?

I know its too soon to know for sure but was wondering if anyone would be interested to meet up and ride with me next weekend (prefer Sunday but could do Saturday if that's better). I've been there once before so I am familiar with the terrain but I don't know my way around obviously.

While I haven't been on the MTB for probably 10 months (mostly by choice) my fitness is pretty good and I am pretty comfortable calling myself an advanced beginner rider on my midfat Timberjack HT. Its about an 1.5 drive for me to get there so want to ride for at least about 2 hours at a moderate pace.

My plan B for a MTB ride next weekend would be LewMo which is only 20 min away from me (and assuming conditions allow).

Thanks Peeps!

ps. if we go on March 1st, it's literally one year to the day since I have been there LOL.
