This is the answer, love mine. They are fast on pavement and grip well on the local gravel. @Glenn Rides After 4 PM CST is running them too. I'm not sure if his opinion has changed since, but he did tell me he liked them in the past.

Dat's fat. My Hakka MX will only take a 45 on 700 wheels. Maybe a 55 on 650b's.
Zero, it was a pre pandemic fad. The Stumptown could only fit sub 38c tires
I looked at the Rutlands but saw reports of inconsistent quality and wobble, maybe they righted the ship?Been through a few different type tires the last few years but landed on these the last year or so in size 42.

Teravail Cannonball gravel race tire. Directional center tread, L-shaped side knobs for cornering grip. Light & Supple or Durable. Sizes 700c and 650b.
I found out the hard way the "Light and Supple" version of these tires are complete shit since I blew out one of them after one ride, and the other one had some weird bubble/thread damage to it after just a few rides. The slight weight penalty of the Durable version is negligible for me and I have 100's of miles on them (on my 2nd set) with no issues.
for my riding I dont like the gravel tires with the slick center tread like the pathfinders I felt it wasnt enough traction on climbs. These tires have a condensed center knobby section that roll pretty well on pavement and hard pack gravel.
I hope so. I originally had the Washburns on but they felt heavy and also have the smooth center tread. I tried to get used to them but took them off after about 500 miles. those are still hanging in my garage collecting dust.
On what bike? Did you pull the trigger?

Some article I came across, used the terms of class 1, 2, 3, 4 to specify terrain. 4 was basically singletrack rock gardens and 3 loose gravel, 2 hard pack gravel and 1 hard pack dirt. At the moment I have on Tracer Pros on one and PF pros on the other. PFs were good for me on 1 & 2, Tracers were adequate for 1, 2, 3 but nothing to write home about . I'm thinking something with knobs on edges to dig in would help with loose gravel.
