Chain Wax Discussion thread

There's about to be a second one up for $19! 😆
Or...but then you may have to change your username!

I did use it twice. Does it work? Hard to tell as the chain is covered in wax, but it does look to get in there.
I’m wondering if the strip chip does a good enough of a job to remove the factory grease so that the wax sticks to the chain as well as it would if you did a thorough degrease of the chain.

Is the wax lasting as long as it would had you stripped the chain with a degreaser?

The factory grease is essentially converted to a wax, so I would think there is little impact to how long the wax lasts.

That’s what they say….🙂

It’s just hard to believe that sticky grease is converted to wax. I’m sure it works well, I was just hoping to hear someone with firsthand experience give me some reassurance.

i could believe it dries out/solidifies the grease, maybe that kills its ability to stick to stuff, not sure would have to remember to ask the wife about that. Converting it should require a chemical reaction which seems unlikely to be something that lawyers would let you sell to the general public.

Anything to make if easier for people to go in the direction of wax.

Does anyone use a strip chip? Does it actually work?
What are you using to degrease? If not using the Strip Chip, are you using the Silca Chain Stripper or the 3 step mineral spirits, citrus degreaser and acetone?

Thanks. After reading the replies from @shrpshtr325 thinking it makes more sense to get the Chain Stipper to use with both new and old chains vs Strip Chip for new chains only. A little skeptical that Strip Chip does the "magic".

@stb222 what did you use for the pictured chain?
It is a chain i waxed previously. I found the gatorade bottle method to be effective and easiest to dispose of the chemicals.
