MARVOKA 2023-2025

Haven't been able to get out here since November. With that timespan plus the heavy storm this week, I was expecting a bit of a mess out there. While there was some stuff down, it wasn't too bad. I think I cut 7 things out today.

I left 1 small log that's on the ground on top of the phone booth climb. And the big one that's been there for years which is built up. I don't want to take everything out.

Otherwise the park is deadfall-free for now.

@Patrick thanks you. I, on the other hand, curse you because now I don't have a valid excuse not to ride here the one time time I do every year and regret it for the rest of the year. 😁

RV is now clear from the south lot to cush.
Couple of the cutouts are tight - and I need to bring my hook in to move the two big logs off the trail.
I left the log-over ramp -

As far as I could move it.

And we are back!

Probably won't get a lot done today - heading over to Cush with the big silky, going up the Z-climb and over the saddle.
Hiking out the eagle trail as far as my batteries will let me.

Maybe 10am.

I got a new toy - Ryobi hand loper - thing will take a finger off in a heartbeat.

Please report on the effectiveness of this tool. Remember to cut back more than you need to

First - Ryobi tool review.
It has a hard time with larger, dead branches - the really hard ones.
Most of the branches that are alive, it handled easily - some needed convincing.
A couple of twisting motions, reposition, done.

One of the nice things here is not having to deal with the spread of the handles - of course that also means that reach is reduced.
I did get the pruning pole saw - but it would need the Bob trailer.

Next - Probably cleared a dozen or more trees. Mostly dead.
Quite a bit of blow-down - so tossed anything that was going to eat a derailleur off the side.

Covered about half of the Eagle Trail. I'll try to get back Thursday.

I am going to pay for a 4 hour TM hike. Should have pre-medicated with vitamin I.
