Lost and Found

This is also a good time to point out that you can change the boot loading screen to display your name or phone number, if you were so inclined.

DC Rainmaker had a short guide on it.
Yes. Did this with my 510 after a suggestion by @KenS. He was reunited with his Garmin after losing it because the person who found it turned it on and saw the info.

Posted this on NJ Mountain Biking FB page. Group seems pretty active. I also personally know a few people who live/ride down that area I’ll send a few messages tmw.

Thanks for posting. I doubt owner is on mtbNJ. The Garmin seems pretty new. Doesn't have a lot of activity on it, with the oldest dated Nov 17, 2024. There are about 15 activities in history. About half of the activities are listed as cycling but only one has an elevation and map associated. I will try looking at that one in Strava when I get to it.

Yeah I figured the NJ MTB page has a lot more people than just this forum. You never know.

Hopefully the one GPS activity gives a map and the ride was from the persons house.

One of you may end up with it after this final push to find the owner. Though, you'll have to fight each other for it now 😀.

Im good, just bustin balls... Hopefully you find the owner. I would look at files and find their house..

Okay. PM me if you need the profile info from the Garmin.
So it turns out someone else (from here?) posted something in a strava group (allaire MTB riders) about this being found and referred to my FB post and this thread. So it’s actually a dead end.

But I still have some others spreading the word so let’s give it some more time before we start the bidding.

Yes, I posted in the Strava group. In hindsight that may have enabled people to stake false claim on the unit and if that was the case I apologize. But I did so because I'm on MTBNJ regularly and still only saw the post a month after it was originally reported. I figured posting there would help reach a wider and Allaire centric audience.

No Worries. I think the only thing is that its a Garmin 840 but according to @SAM there is still some specific personal information on the device that would need to be verified (i.e. user profile details).

Maybe we should remove that content above (i.e. wifi name) since thats one of the things that would be very specific and they would have to know it but could see it on this thread.

The other way is to tell anyone who makes a claim to take a screen shot of the garmin connect web site details where it stores the serial number. This is for my now deceased 510 which hasn't been synced in a long time the serial number info is still available.

even with @Mitch busting balls of course I/he would like to have it which was going to be my original reply to this thread, but I still feel like given a little bit of patience and social media awareness we can find the owner.

Even if they know the WiFi network name, they will still have to know the gender, birth year, height, & weight in the user profile. I did not reveal this info.

We can give it more time to find the owner. But, if not claimed in a reasonable time, I just wanted to pass it on to someone who could use it. Person using it can still return to the owner if they finally see the posts and provide the correct profile info.

Dropped my phone (samsung galaxy s23 ultra) somewhere in the park... if anyone comes across it I would be so appreciative if you would message me and let me know

Try FIND MY PHONE
Also if you have Samsung watch it can ring the phone
