medium cage derailleur

Not very likely unless you avoid gears at the extremes.

Capacity is 37T for X9 med cage

capacity = (biggest chainring - smallest chainring) + (biggest cassette sprocket - smallest cassette sprocket)

Regular triple MTB setup needs usually 43T = (44-22) + (32-11)

With SRAM you can. The chain will be long though in the granny and the higher cogs on the cass. (12-15)

You have to setup the chain like this:

http://www.sram24.com/newtechdoc/english/consumers/mtb/pdf/chains/Chain_all_MTB_08_02.pdf

Run the chain around the largest cog and chain ring and add 1 complete link.

If it is on a Full suspension bike you need to have the bike at full travel as well. (if the design creates chain growth)

This is great info thanks, with the longer chain will I drop the chain more?
