Deer Park Conditions

Yes it's true Deer Park is finally getting representation it deserves. Look for some scheduled TM dates coming soon. Let's make DP great again! Thank you @Ron for your time and hope to see you at up coming sessions. I have a vision similar to what six mile is doing that we can assign sections to keep clean from overgrowth. We can now address some of the problem areas as well with solid turnouts from our local members. If you have request please pm me.

Thank you to all who supported my bid to become a chapter leader here at Deer Park.
Deer Park has always been a part of me and my beginnings into the mtb universe. The park is true and dear to me and I'm super excited to get started.

That's awesome! You're the obvious choice for that! Best of luck & thanks!

Got some more stuff done today.

Also playing around with set ups. This is the latest version. Mini 8” saw, 5 batteries, hand saw and hand clippers are inside of the pack. This is using a Kuiu Venture 2300. Amazing pack.

Awesome! Thanks again...

That's probably worst section (overgrowth) in the park always, this is one of those problem areas that needs to be addressed. I've hiked in from the rest area before.

That was my plan for parking. It was that or park at the school but hike straight over the mountain after going over the bridge at the lake. But will probably park on rt 80.

Got back in yesterday for a bit and today for a few hours. Trying to concentrate on the impassable stuff first.

There a couple spots in this section that need a little cleaning up, but completely passable.

Tree wise. That section has no trail blockage from trees. A few weeks ago I found one by the lake. Tree top across trail nothing bigger than 6”. If I trail run back there next weekend I will carry my saw to at least cut a hole in it

Thanks Ron! Really appreciate your intel and efforts. I'm planning to put more time in there with the saw in coming weeks / months.

Hopefully the plan for tomorrow is intel. The today plan for tomorrow is to jog from Kinney Road up Waterloo South Trail. Then around the lake going out Deer Park Trail and coming down the trail that goes out by route 80 dumping me onto Waterloo North Trail. Taking that down to Waterloo and back to Kinney.

I will be running with my hand saw. Will try to make updates on maps and post up. Plus cut holes in stuff with the hand saw to at least be able to pass through them till we can get in there with bigger saws.

Wifey and I grabbed dinner at Panther Pub this evening. I noticed across 517, right next to the 7/11 trail entrance, the brush had been cleared in a ~30’x30’ section with pink-taped stakes throughout. Any idea what’s going on there?

Well plans did not pan out as expected. After my run yesterday and 4 hours at the fair last night with the kids I did not make it out this morning.

I saw the park crew wacking that back then they went in on the 7/11 trail about 50'. I'm gonna assume since it's staked that they plan parking but really that's the size lot your going with? When I get the opportunity to hook up with park super I will find out.

Todays TM ended sooner then I wanted. Whacked back yellow on the white trail side then went to entrance on the road side got about 15' in then got hit about 20x by yellow jackets. Pulled the plug, not allergic but didn't want to take the chance just in case.
