Love my Habit but yeah, it's freaking heavy. I've been slowly replacing anything I can with lighter parts but haven't made it to the wheels yet - that always seems to be a project for another paycheck.I had a number of projects going on this weekend....wish I took more pics, but my hands were usually dirty.
First up was my Scalpel SI race bike....I found a very small crack in the frame a few months ago...cannondale sent me a new frame...I have been slowy been rebuilding it...finally finished that project (needed to get the brakes bled and the drivetrain finished)....Planning on selling this bike soon as I just dont ride it much anymore
Then my sons cannondale habit LT...Which I love and I think it a great bike for him....however, we trail ride alot and its almost 32lbs, so I wanted to lighten it up for trail riding. I got him a lighter set of wheels, and some lighter tires....My ebike came with all of this fancy XTR stuff that to me is kinda silly on a 50+lb bike anyway. So I swapped out the brakes, derailleur, shifter from the ebike onto my sons bike....which was pretty easy. Running the brake line back thru ebike frame was fun. Made much easier once I popped the battery out. Im at my lake house right now, so I dont have my shop....thus im working outside on gravel like its the 1800s.

wheels/tires are really what makes the most difference....but ya not cheap.Love my Habit but yeah, it's freaking heavy. I've been slowly replacing anything I can with lighter parts but haven't made it to the wheels yet - that always seems to be a project for another paycheck.
I have been window shopping for Scalpels...
SS'ing my '16 Scalpel (pre-FSI) has been awesome. Just saying.wheels/tires are really what makes the most difference....but ya not cheap.
Love my scalpel for XC racing, its an absolute rocket, but I just havent XC raced in a while now and its just sitting
@Patrick Can you suspend @iman29 until he sends proof he runs tubeless? Finally took the time to swap over to the new to me front wheel on the MTB. I also decided to put on a newer front tire I got off this forum a while ago for real cheap since the rear one was such a PITA. I know the old one didn’t seem that worn out but figured better now since I already have it apart.
Swapped over the rotor and then mounted the tire. It was a bit snug but the red tire levers i have acquired have an extra notch on them for remounting and it wasn’t nearly as bad as the rear one. Used some windex around the bead and inflated it to about 45 psi and bounced the wheel along the sidewall gently about 5-6 times and heard the pop of the bead setting in. Bingo.
Yes I am a peasant and still use tubes. Yes garage is still a mess (slowly purging stuff from my friends bike stuff who passed away back in Feb) and yes then I realized the MAXXIS lettering on the front tire is bigger than the rear one. Oh well.
Now looking forward to finally getting back out on this thing for a ride. But not where there are chiggers 🤪🤣

And what about the correct alignment of the tire with the valve?

I lined up the M in Maxxis on each valve. Guess I failed.Brand centered, unless the tire only has one hot patch.
Model centered if the rim has the model next to the valve hole.
