Walk Mode was originally designed to help Commuters roll the bike up stairs in a city apartment. Being the systems are all the same and just dropped into the MTB it was just there originally but it is actually useful. You’re not just pushing a 50lb bike, you’re pushing a 50lb bike through the resistance of a motor so it’s almost like pushing a 50lb bike with the brake on.

This morning’s Commute on the big bike. Actually not a ton of difference. Turbo is a lot faster but Trail Mode is sorta like Eco on the SL. I feel like the added weight cancels out the extra power? And the S4 is so much better feeling size-wise.

I'm not advocating riding where one shouldn't but I totally understand the Surron appeal and would get down with a Surron. I've had a couple dual sport motorcycles. Heavy and bigger, not stealth, and maintenance sucks.

Riding the full power Levo this morning through Watchung I don't think there's any difference. Doing 20mph around blind corners on a 50lb bike will still kill a hiker if you hit them.

I just came here to say that I was unaware that my shuttle had a walk assist mode.....now if it only had a pedal assist mode where I could just hit the throttle and not pedal...I would really love that.

I have used it. Up the backside of RV, 40 pound TM pack with chainsaw on my back.

If we are catering to people who can barely get on the bike, or people who have aged out, that walk assist thing is reasonable.
Your example is really specific, and the folks that have aged out and can barely get on a bike are a niche within a niche, not really who the industry is catering to is it? Also not who I see on ebikes most of the time these days. My skinny, bag of bones 13yr old daughter can lift 50lbs pretty easily, as can most ebikers I imagine since they’re getting these things in their cars and to the trails somehow.

There's a reason every car rack manufacturer now sells racks with a ramp.

Speaking of hefting up e-bikes, I saw this in a YouTube Eurobike 2024 video yesterday:

$1200 MSRP. No, not cheap... but cheaper than other available options meant for professional use.

Lots of motos at Neshaminy. The last time I was there we crossed paths with three of them on the other side of the loop from where we usually see them. Granted... they've been riding at the abandoned quarry next to the property for longer than we've been riding bikes in those woods, so... I dunno...

Considering we charge an extra $50 to do a flat on most ebikes, this would pay for itself pretty quickly.

I honestly don't care about the motos much, but the quads, the quads can f themselves. You can't do much about motos, they can fit through the same tight spots we can. But the quads, log overs and making things tight makes it difficult for them.

Yup. All I got is my own experience. And if I didn’t have that walk assist mode I’d be extra irritated 1 additional minute per month. As a middle aged white man, that’s totally unacceptable.

lol, I thought the same way as you 10 year ago. The main issue as you get older is recovery and how long it takes. For example 2 weeks I was out on my road bike and I got hit, did a OTB at around 15 mph. Cracked a rib and street pizzaed both knees, my elbow and shoulder. When I was 20 years old I would be out on the bike the next day. Sadly I have been hobbled for the past 2 weeks.. getting old is not for wimps.View attachment 242377View attachment 242378View attachment 242379View attachment 242380
