What have you done to your bike today?

maybe, maybe not, if the light isnt projecting roughly horizontally behind you, then you are reducing the distance at which it can be seen (im not sure what the acceptable angle is before the visibility decreases so this may be miniscule enough on this scale)
Using it today for the first time on the winding Clinton road for 18 miles it worked flawlessly, let me know when anything was coming, cars, motorcycles, trucks.

Put on my Industry Nine Grade 300 wheels, removed my air-liners and changed my rear axle to the short setting.

Dropped it off at Marty's for another rear wheel bearing replacement. This seems to be an annual event for me, never have any issues with any other bearings on the bike. The mechanic tells me I wash it too much, but I know that's not the case even though I always tend to show up with the cleanest bike for every ride.... 😎

Started the new build.

First reaction pulling the frame out was holy crap this is a beefy frame. SC's frames are so much bigger than the Element I was riding. I'm so excited to get a glovebox again. Being able to just jump on the bike with a water bottle and go is awesome. Got most of the build done today including 80% wrapping with 3M tape.

Still need to setup the rear wheel when it arrives tomorrow, bump the Pike up to 140mm and get the drivetrain functional. By my calculations the bike should be around 30.5# before pedals which is bang on what I wanted this bike to be. Something I don't have to worry about day to day riding hard.

2024 may be the year of no bike builds....maybe.

Looks great.

Not to sidetrack but can you post the link to the 3M tape you used? And is the tape matte or gloss finish ?

Might need to invest in this for my next whip. Thanks.

Absolutely! That's why I mentioned it, hopefully to save someone $100. I've done 3 Tailored ride wraps before and I'll never do it again. They're super difficult to work with and mine ended up coming up a little on my last bike. I haven't been able to find matte which is unfortunate, but clear looks fine too.

I used invisaframe on the fugitive, wasn't that bad but it's not really thick and the edges on complicated areas lifted a little attracting dirt, I ended up trimming them.

That tape is 8 mil , I've been using 3M 14mil Heli tape but the e-bay seller I bought it from doesn't appear to be in business anymore...

Ridewrap's is 8mm too, had good results with keeping the bike in great shape so I don't see a need for anything thicker tbh. 14mm doesn't sound like it'd be fun to apply well.

Not around tight edges, it is not.

Using a heat gun helps greatly, also most of my bikes are steel so round and straight tubing, not an issue there.

On a carbon frame, such as my Mukluk, it was a little bit more challenging.

I don't recommend cheapening out and buying conveyor tape from McMaster.

Pros: Indestructible, stronger than NJ rocks. Free if ordered on a work account. Doesn't yellow.

Cons: It becomes one with the frame. You don't remove the tape from the frame, you burn the frame to remove it from the tape.

What is the application of said conveyor tape? I can't find anything with that specific designation on McMaster.
