What have you done to your bike today?

Fabricated a fatbike fender out of some materials on hand.

Finally got the trainer bike all cleaned up and set for the trainer last night.

Had to wash off 1/2 can of WD40 off the drivetrain the seller used when he prepped it to sell it to me. Swapped out the saddle for one of my old ones which happens to match the bike and raised the seat post. Had a buddy swing by and help me get the old flat pedals off they were probably on there since 2014.

Took it for a ride up and down the block a few times it shifts perfectly with no adjustment. Then I realized how dry rotted the tires were they are probably original they even had the little hairs on the sides. Using some old slick 23mm racing tires I had laying around for now But eventually I’ll probably get a trainer tire.

I had these red bottle cages laying around in the parts bin from my original road bike from back in 2010 they don’t match but it does the job.

Will have to see how much difference the 8 speed makes vs 11speed on zwift for the type of rides I do probably won’t matter much but if anyone had any Shimano 10speed parts gathering dust to donate or trade for beers let me know. 😁🍻

I think I will name it Rollie 🤪

What are you using to measure power and/or speed. Spring is around the corner

I’ve got a new to me Cycleops Magnus wheel on smart trainer that was barely used. It has built in power cadence and speed.

With my old Fluid2 trainer that I had for 10 years I just had a speed/cadence sensor and zwift has “virtual power” curve coded into the game which I’ve been told is somewhat accurate.

I don’t have a power meter on any of my bikes for ever since I started riding back in 2010. the type of riding I do I don’t find it necessary vs the cost.

I do a ramp test on zwift periodically to get some baselines here and there that’s good enough for me. But in general I don’t really focus on power data I just keep my regular schedule of drills and workouts to improve.
