thats true, but being slower than the fastest version of yourself....I want no part of that.

If that was true, you'd never ride bikes with me (or most others). Sometimes it's fun to slow down and ride dumb shit with other idiots.
slowing down on downhills is never fun.......this is why you instinctively move to the back of the line when we get to a DH 😂....(really, its your bikes fault)
Nah, I go downhill slowly on real bikes too.
