The titanium bike thread

Be real. You were never in
You got me there. I should have said 'not a steel el mariachi, I'm out'.

But seriously, looks like a nice bike. The T47 seems like a better standard, if anything I'm not an early adopter of standards (understatement f the year). I genuinely think that in order to better accomodate SS setup HT should have some kind of adjustable drop outs.

is the rear axle a normal boost? He says it's a bolt on, not sure what that means
This is the through axle. Yes boost. Measures about 7 1/4”. I looked on the site and Turner uses the same derailleur hanger for the past decade. That’s a good thing as the hanger on my Sultan was super solid

Quick tangent- I saw an article that Turner does have an interest in making full suspension bikes again but did not comment on what material. The release of this titanium hardtail is perfect for me as I’m not interested in full squish for now anyway.

Another tangent- Do you still have the Czar? You raced successfully on that for a long time👍🏻

Chris King was part of the group who developed T47, so not a bad choice. That bike needs eeWings if you can make it work.
Those cranks are beautiful but half the price of the titanium frame 🤑🤑🤑. Instead of a budget titanium build its a bust the budget titanium build😂🤘

I’m still racing it. I thought about a new bike for 2022 race season, but I’m not dropping 8k on a bike just so it’s “longer and lower”. My czar weighs under 24lbs (XL) in race mode. To get a new Mach 4 or Blur that light you’ll need to spend 12k. F that noise. Not worth it.

I replaced all the pivot bearings on my linkage because I’m going on the 3rd or 4th tear on this bike. When I took them out, they were all like brand new. So I put the bee ones in and saved the old ones just in case.

When it’s time to upgrade, I’ll probably go for the Ibis Exie frame. 120/100 and the frame is actually made in California. Which is pretty cool.

Safe to say you’ve gotten your money’s worth out of your Turner Czar! Well designed and built bike. And besides, ultra slack is not necessarily the best for the tight and twisty NJ trails anyway.

Exie is a great bike. I thought about it when I was shopping and still may be an option in the future(if I go back to full squish).

So I’m just going with 160mm as I’m really easy on the brakes. Yes pic has been recycled many many times… That’s about 7 years ago but can still do stoppies on it. Have had the same pads on my 26er for almost 30 years 🤷🏻‍♂️.
