Day 25 - Recovery ride?

I woke up this morning with EVERYTHING sore from yesterday's Shed ride. So I decided it was going to be a road ride. A few days (weeks?) ago, someone posted doing a ride to Dairy Queen. I thought, "you know... I can do that..." ...it's actually a ride I've been wanting to do for years. I knew I had a tailwind heading up the river, but didn't realize just how rough the headwind would be on the return until I started home. So what I had planned to be an easy recovery ride turned into a "that effing hurt..." ride.

There were a lot of boat trailers at the launches today. Evident by the number of boats on the river looking out from the Bristol waterfront.

Dairy Queen in Morrisville. I was expecting it to be busier given it was a nice day and fairly hot.

Chocolate ice cream. Trying to refill some of the calories burned today...

Steady coming and goings from the boat launch:

I'll have to see how I feel tomorrow before deciding between dirt or road again. I do need a real easy recover ride after the weekend.
DQ FTW!

16 / 20+

oh, now I remember why I bought a full suspension bike...because it’s awesome to come down on rocky trail...until you meet a Peter Griffin impersonator who decided to break a 30+ years iatus and walked himself and girlfriend in the very middle of the trail while I was coming down bombing it (well, my own interpretation of bombing that is). Plenty of notice but no, the most he could manage was to turn sideways and lift his heels, which resulted in actually taking even more space (which was kind of surprising). Thankfully the gf moved to the side so after slowing down I could safely get through but my PR was now further delayed! Fun ride though, lots of gnar and I met a nice couple that will hopefully attend som TM is the future. Good stuff. Love, love, love this bike!

25 lighters on my dresser, yessir, you know I gotsta get paid.

Got to my turn-around today and decided to push myself a little. Maybe too soon, maybe I needed it. Whatever, it kicked my ass.

After reviewing Strava, it looks like I got shorted on the mileage. Apparently it didn't record anything from the Seabright Bridge to the end of Sandy Hook (I took pictures on the bridge and again at the lighthouse; probably where I screwed up). I think my mileage is short by about 6 or 7 miles.

At the end of the Hook, as I rolled up on the LH, I felt a wobble, which turned out to be a broken spoke. With the brake rub and head wind, the ride home sucked. I'm a little panicked about the spoke, now I'm scrambling to get another bike road worthy.

#24 Late to post. I went back to the lot where I launched my garmin and Varia from the back of my tailgate. As I was walking the lot with the first born, I couldn’t believe it. Sitting in the lot was my garmin! Run to it and pick it up… well this isn’t my Garmin, but it is quite the upgrade. The random Garmin model is 2 models better than mine. So if someone lost an 830, let me know! No luck finding the Varia :( . Then it was a fun ride with my daughter in the bike trailer. Damn she’s getting heavy! https://strava.app.link/ahn2TADXbib
