The Queen got a neo-classic Convertible

I'm so fed up with repair shops and dealers. My daughter is in Maine and she has a slow leak in one tire. Took it to the dealer where we bought it and there is a nail in the tire. They say they can't patch it and need to buy a new tire for $240, no other options. Unless you want to walk you are screwed. She needs the car for work so.. 😡

i pulled into a tire shop in myrtle beach with a nail in the tire.
parked the truck with the tire turned out and the nail up - so they could just stick a plug in it.
the guy asks for the keys, i don't really think about it.
next thing you know it is on the lift and they charge me $50.
Hell if they charged me $20 and did it in 10 minutes, i probably would have thrown the tech another $10.
but no - long wait, and then boom - i must have been sleeping after driving down overnight.

Having it sent down via flatbed or trailer - whichever they prefer.
No time to go to Moonachie or Lodi - might be here tonight or tomorrow.

on the temp tags.....it does require the special "paper" - after that, it is just a login.
f*ckers, this is why people dislike used car sales so much.

Temp tags is New Jersey's brand-new Temporary Vehicle Tag service designed and built for dealerships to streamline the process of issuing and managing temporary vehicle tags.
Features:

  • Fast. Issue a temp tag in less than 5 minutes.
  • Easy. A temp tag is available to print immediately from your computer...no more hand-written forms, control paper, and log books!
  • Secure. All information is transmitted and stored securely.

Apparently all the above is not the case.

Most tire places around here don’t plug tires anymore, they patch the inside because lawyers.

I looked at the dealership site. Judging by their inventory, they have access to NJ temp tags. They are trying to skirt around the advertised $0 BAT dealer fee. That, or they think they can wholesale the car for more than you paid for it and this gives them time to look into it deeper and sell it out from under you. I would contact BAT and have them intervene if it's not already resolved.

...and the thread goes on...

Good luck and enjoy the new toy!

Too bad you just missed out on this one...looks like there was some red paint on it at one time...I am sure it would buff up pretty good with a couple of weekends worth of work...

ha - so they backed the dealer fees out of the "sales price" - but still want to charge to do the temp tags.
I kinda get it - if they were selling it out of state, it would just go with a little bit of paperwork.
If i purchased private - i'd have to do it. (they charged $185 for title/reg - this is reasonable, as it is probably $46 to register + plates, and $60 for title)
so i didn't have to pay sales tax on the fees! saved %50

I have a signed bill of sale. since they didn't have a reserve on this auction, i'm expecting it has 100 little things.

everything is negotiable - i'm sure they put it in this way to max their commission.
(he lowered the price of the car by the fees)

like when the finance guy adds something on, then reduces the price of the car by that amount,
or they finance something then send a refund check "a few days later"

Bikes are the same way. Especially new. Between freight, delivery, “dealer set up” (this the one that is fake news, because that’s delivery), then registration, tax, state fees, tire tax... just add another $1,200 to an inexpensive new bike. Just call and ask “what’s the out the door” because that sticker really doesn’t tell the whole story.
