Important metric is % positive in new testing, but is tracking fairly closely. A quick look at NJ and PA shows a similar trend to CA and FL - peaked a few weeks ago and trending down.

How are you able to schedule vaccination under 65? We can't yet

As of last week my 80yo father was unable to get an appointment(non available, he is not being told that he's ineligible). I hope that changed in the last week but not sure

You can schedule an appointment if you're under 65 if you have other issues, such as obesity (30+bmi) or smoking.

But it's basically impossible to get an appointment right now. Most places aren't even taking appointments because there isn't enough vaccine.

Doesn't make sense that NJ would let people under 65 schedule (other than healthcare workers, first responders) before over 65.

I have my hills teacher friends that have gotten it in NJ. PA is really screwing this up, pretty much no one is getting it.

Even the girl that cuts my wife's hair got her vaccine. Apparently you just need a relative who's giving the vaccines. Their whole family managed to find some "extra unused" vaccines at the end of the day.

Not everything is a conspiracy of the haves trying to screw the have-nots. The vaccine is administered on an appointment basis because of limited supply. They defrost enough to cover the daily appointments, with a maybe a few extra to cover drops, spills, etc. if someone misses an appointment, or is screened out, you may have extra at the end of the day. Once it’s defrosted, there is no refreezing it, it’s either use or toss. So what’s wrong with placing a call to someone you know to get them vaccinated? It adds to the goal of herd immunity, and at the end of the day now you have one less person clogging up the appointment system.

If i knew, i wouldn't have dieted. my brother (54yo) got his because of his grande proportions.

On Friday, my 93 year old Dad and 89 year old mom went with my sister to get vaccinated. This only happened because one of my four sisters is more persistent that AIDS. She got three hard to obtain appointments.

This is a HUGE milestone for me, because for the last ten months my first priority was preventing my parents from contracting the disease. I think I will celebrate and have some good cab with the football games today.

Saturday I found out that the youngest daughter tested positive for C19. Good news is that she is non symptomatic and 180 miles away. There was a 7 day gap between the last time she was in NJ and the positive test. She traveled by air twice during that time. Not sure what this means but for now, telling everyone that I have seen in the last week-probably 4 people, and applying more hermit technique to the Spartan life.

Mrs. G is a “1B”, but doesn’t seem to focus on making an appointment. I am “1C” (66 is I make it to St. Valentine’s Day.) However, I would rather ride and work (evidently,) than make an appointment. I have tried a couple of times without luck.

My sister told me yesterday that they changed over 65 year old people like @rick81721 to “1B,” but I haven’t verified this yet. Another hour on the internet, I guess..

Well I know our risk is minimal so we will wait our turn. I couldn't in good conscience get the vaccine before all the 65+ people in FL who want it have their chance.

Great news!

Most of you guys are probably too young to remember the polio mass vaccinations in the early 1960s. Well old man @thegock probably got the salk killed virus injection! Somehow I still remember (must have been 5 years old) walking with my brothers and sister to our local elementary school where they had tables in the playground covered with rows of little dixie cups, one sugar cube loaded with the sabin attenuated virus vaccine in each cup. Ate the sugar cube and done. Local vaccination sites is the way to do covid as well - we are starting to roll it out in Publix pharmacies down here.
