Should I explain to him that his shifting sucks because you can't mix a Shemeng derailleur with a Shimado shifter?Wow...have never seen knockoff Shimano stuff like that before, thats crazy

clearly it's a compatability issue between the two... #teamShimadoShould I explain to him that his shifting sucks because you can't mix a Shemeng derailleur with a Shimado shifter?
Ooooo...a tire called WANDA!You guys should be jealous.
Ooooo...a tire called WANDA!
Wait...that is all on the same bike?Should I explain to him that his shifting sucks because you can't mix a Shemeng derailleur with a Shimado shifter?
Not necessarily. I specifically remember my '92 bike was fitted with Smokes front and rear. I did always wonder why it didn't have a Dart... regardless, being a budding weight-weenie, I soon swapped them out for lighter tires. Ritchey Z-Max WCS, I think at first, and then a few Continental types (some of which I still have).Smoke front? Supposed to be a Dart!
Of course. There is a theme there.Wait...that is all on the same bike?

Smokes were run front and back before the Dart was introduced.I did not know that was a thing. I never saw a smoke up front.
At one point I had a 1.9 Smoke on the back, probably running 40psi to keep it off the rim. 🙂. That reminds me, when I first started riding ('94 - GT Karakoram fully rigid), I would pump the tires to the moon for "less resistance" and a buddy would argue with me with the same points we all now accept as true regarding rolling resistance over rough terrain (to say nothing of traction). Ahead of his time.
I had the smoke/dart thing going along with 40 psi on my '92 Trek antelope. Surely the Girvin flex stem helped with trail chatterI did not know that was a thing. I never saw a smoke up front.

+1 on this... I had the 820, electric blue, w/biopace chainrings!!I had the smoke/dart thing going along with 40 psi on my '92 Trek antelope.
I was partial to Ritchey Megabites back then.
Indeed. Tomac was the man. Nedly too.Tioga Psychos followed my Smokes because Tomac was cool and I liked replacing my tires every three weeks.
Dude.I had the 820, electric blue, w/biopace chainrings!!
I had this bike! I put a Judy DH on mine because I was extreme. 🤣 I even rode it at Plattekill a few times. Ended up breaking the chainstay 3x (not at Plattekill but once in Central Park practicing trials on a park bench). After the 3rd break the Mongoose rep said he could only replace it with the alloy Mongoose Comp. Lame.Actually, I'll throw out a two-fer....1994 Mongoose IBOC Pro SX...Is it Carbon? Is it Alloy? IT'S BOTH!!! The old bonded Carbon/Aluminum frame! This bike was listed as coming full LX/Mag 21, but this one is set up with STX Drivetrain/Rock Shox Quad 21 fork...Zoom handlebars...Sweet purple bar ends...As i remember, this was what about $800-$1000 got you back then....
