Interesting bikes that showed up at bike shops while they operated with closed/locked doors!

Ha! See what I did there!?

Anyway...I thought it might be fun (and hopefully we keep it that way) to post some interesting/cool bikes that have finally seen the light of day because of the insanity of 2020. These are some bikes that have shown up at the shop....(and some even ended up not leaving and becoming part of my personal collection)....I'll kick it off with this Fat Chance Team edition bike, circa about 1993. Cook Bros. cranks, Bullseye hubs, XT parts, Halson inverted fork, Tech Lite levers, etc. Had to have it!

And next up that showed up this week...Klein Pulse Race, circa late 90's (1997 ish). STX parts, OG Bontrager bars and bar ends, original Klein Death Grips in great shape. Customer is keeping the pedals/cages/bag. Not original, but cool old LeMond saddle. It was originally purchased from the original Somerville Cyclery, which was the first shop in our space back in the 90's. Had to have it!

Halson Inversion fork (thank you Internet). Period correct! Love the Onzas too. I used those things forever because I didn't know any better.

That's cool. I haven't seen a Halson fork in 25 years. Coincidentally, it was on a Gary Fisher RS-1 Lawwill.

I had a pair of those back in the mid 90's. Probably the only bike related thing I tossed in the trash that was not worn out.

Just did a Google search because I don't remember the elastomer details and found this. Probably why they're all blue and black elastomers. "Clear has an A/58 hardness, Grey an A/71, Blue is A/79 and Black is A/91. The higher the Durometric hardness number, the more difficult it is to effect release."

Why would you keep these?

I'm starting to realize I don't throw anything bike related away. There's a Specialized Future Shock from '93 in my scrap pile, 80mm tops and a needle for a basketball was used to air it up.

Hah. Mostly guilty, though I did bring a ton of stuff to 2nd life bikes a couple years ago. 6 or 7 26er wheels I would never use again plus all kinds of random junk. The 7 speed stuff would have been gold this past summer! It would have been nice to make my daughter's bike 1X9 too.

Maybe this will be the kick in the ass I need, to start moving the shit out of the garage. Come to think of it, I should start a new thread for vintage parts in the spare parts bin.
