Things that make you frown :(

What caused that?
Owner left vehicle outside for days with the window open during a storm right before the temperature dropped, we got the car with 2 inches of ice on the driver's floor, I had to break the bottom seat frame bracket because once I melted the ice I found heavy corrosion on the seat frame. Usually it take us about 2 to 4hour max to find a water leak on a car, I didn't find any leaks, so the owner try to take legal actions against my dealer and then against Mercedes, an engineer from MBUSA and even an official of the state came over and I had to water leak test the car for two more days for about 5 to 6 hours each day, so no leaks were found, his insurance ended up paying $45k in repairs and he had to spend another $25k out of his pocket on legal fees and other stuff. The car was filthy all over, not because of the water damage.IMG_20191219_081223119.jpgIMG_20191219_113202634_HDR.jpgIMG_20200217_141601392.jpgIMG_20200222_090042120.jpgIMG_20200218_083152010.jpg

Did the owner finally confess he left the window open? I have learned after 42 yrs of working in dealerships is that all customers lie. I don't believe one friggin thing they tell me or the service writer.
Like we always say "stupid doesn't hurt, but it sure does cost" Hope you did not kill your paychecks with this screw up.

65 hrs holy smokes. Are you flat rate? Here at the gm store, hours like that would never ever happen.
Yes I am flat rate. Sad story is right after I finished the car I got furlough. I been on furlough since April, I miss working and now I feel like if I'm in need of a job, I even gained about 20 lbs. I just hate being at home doing nothing. And not having a job scares me because I don't know if my employer will call me back before I drain my unemployment. And I am not gonna wait till the end, I need to find another place to work, because 80% of the shops I seen are busy.

That screw up paid me DW time so I didn't loose money. MBUSAs attorneys reported that either the top or the left window was left open, specially for that amount of water to be found on the driver's floor

based on your description I feel like going out on a limb and guess this was one of @jimvreeland 's customers...

Generalizing anybody? Given the attitude I doubt it will make any difference, but I have been lied/screwed to by both independent shop mechanics and dealership mechanics (with the dealership mechanics winning the cake in terms of lying) and this in two separate continents. I guess that I can say that in about 36 years of doing business with car mechanics I learned that they all lie. Big difference is I always ended up paying the bill...

Wow for a minute I thought I was in the car spotting thread. That water repair on that MB is ridiculous.

Unfrown cause the stitches are out on my injured thumb.
Frown cause the roads are wet and tstorms means no ride today or probably tmw.

then again there are bigger problems to have.

This is a big frown!

Drove to the store on Sunday afternoon no issues, came out to this error.

20200723_113709.jpg

Sat there for a few minutes, tried to start again with no luck. Left it there for several hours came back and it started. Drove home and all seemed ok. Plugged it in and got a red warning light...unplugged and called it a night. Called roadside assistance on Monday morning to have it towed and gave the dealership a heads up. They called me on Tuesday to tell me they're going to take a "crack at it" and then get back to me. Got a callback yesterday that they ran diagnostics and it's a charging issue and a ticket has been opened with support to get another tech to travel to the dealership to work on it....

I'm reading it could be anything from a heating element to failed batteries.

did they pop off the rim?
wasn't there a fatbike tire that blew in someones hatch a couple years back? sent sealant all over?

Yikes...I feel like you’d have to have a very high pressure for the tires to pop off?

Both of mine are leaking at the spokes. These are new to me I9 wheels with nipple-less spokes so I’m not real sure how the seal works...headed home to rip the tires off and find out.

take the temp up 15% (in deg K) - P goes up - pop.
they were probably over-filled and this just pushed them over the edge (literally)

send pics!
