I've heard of them being crafty enough to get around the backup solutions by getting the backups encrypted as well.
If you can encrypt the disk and allow the user to use the key for a few weeks (unknowingly) all the backups get overwritten with encrypted versions, and then you revoke the key.

Yeah, I remember thinking $150 was a bit expensive and the gov't would probably crack down anyway...add that to my long list of missed opportunities or selling at the wrong time.

Yes, I've seen that happen, the backup files get encrypted too. actually the files are there with added "stuff" in the file name.

Computer back today - good as new. Carbonite saved the day - apparently they save 1 backup per day for a week, 1 per week for 4 weeks, and then 1 per month for 2 more months. So as long as you don't let corrupt files go for more than 3 months, you're saved.
