I've had 2 different generations of xt brakes, and have never had an issue with modulation, but have read a lot about the modulation issues. Metallic pads and ice tech rotors, use 1 finger, no issues. Then again I've been riding motos all my life where grabbing a handful of brake usually does not end well, so I'm conditioned to be easy on the stoppers.
