He put a guitar in my hands and played me my 1st Beatle record when I was 5. He put me in his 68 Beetle and took me to my 1st concert (Grateful Dead) and was in my 1st basement band when I was 13. He move out West when I was 16 where he built his own house, a family and eventually bikes.

While on tour in Tacoma, he happened to be in a bike race (Cyclocross Nationals). I hadn’t been on a bike in 20 years. After seeing him in that crazy sport I went home and bought a bike. He’s been referred to in articles as a “legend in Montana Cross” as well as putting on one of the longest running Cross races in Montana, The Heron Cross.

Talked to him yesterday and he was more bummed to be missing his trail grooming job that had him every day at sunrise, deep into the Montana wilderness grooming x-country trails on a snow mobile. Links below for info on his journey.

Good.karma heading his way!!!

BTW, one of my best friends is building his final home on 10 acres in Kalispell! They'll be neighbors!

Marc, sorry to see this. Good Vibrations being sent his way. Please keep us updated on progress.

This was taken at Allaire when I 1st got into riding and he was visiting. We're descendants of James P. Allaire so was a family affair to take him there. I remember telling him of a big climb coming up, probably on tiger. We get to the top, I'm huffing and puffing like the newb I am and say "Nice, right?" I look back at him and he looked confused and says "yea, but when does the climb start?" Goat used to Montana climbs. Ha!
