White trail reroute, new trail.

We have a little news to share with you. After we completed the Vietnam rock bridge project Art, Ellen and I have been working hard on a little project. In September we made an initial proposal with the park to reroute the White trail in the main part of the park, and since have flagged out the future trail and just recently got final approval. As you may know the White trail runs East to West from the Skylands trail, near warm Puppy, to ilgenstein Rock and is 95% on fire road. We now have permission from the park to take this trail off road. We will be building approximately a 2.2 mile single track trail from the bottom near Warm Puppy all the way to to the top of Piersons ridge about 600' of elevation gain. This will prove to be one of the best climbs in NJ, or from the other directions one of the best descents in the state, if your into that kind of thing. So as of today our first trail building day will be March 30th, so please keep your eyes open for more details to come. I have included the Ringwood map for your viewing pleasure, please feel free to pass this on and encourage anyone not on this list to please join. Hope to see you all on the 30th.

Art and I are really excited about this next string of projects as they will greatly improve the quality of the riding experience in the main part of the park. I will try to keep you all updated with pictures, work dates and updates on this blog:

Looking forward to seeing you on the trails soon. 🙂

This is exciting news. It would be great to have a ST alternative all the way up to peak of Pierson.

Count me in..I dread that fire road climb
What time do you guys usually start? What do we need or can bring to help out ?

JR Zano and I are referring to the same project(s). There are five sections included in this proposal, and we like to complete one before we start the next so that you all can start riding a complete portion. We hope to complete 2 this year, but that mostly depends on how many volunteers come out to help 😉.

Bodies, we need extra hands, as many as you can Dig up... Usually we leave to work site about 9 am from the parking lot. Ellen will make sure we have all the details before the 30th.

I second the general enthusiasm! I live here and ride here 90% of the time, so I am in. I will try to make all trail dates, and I hope to see you all out there as well.

The first section of the Crossover Trail (white) re-route is complete, yet the connector section may need another week or two to bench in. Also none of this is marked yet.

Art and I took our big bikes (30ish lbs) out for a leisurely spin up and down with the go pro. It climbs pretty good.

Still working every Thursday, weather permitting. 🙂
