Growth isn't infinite, and distribution of resources are not equal, greed wins out things collapse something something seize the means of production.

Rick is the first person I'm going to eat
In 1972 there was a plane crash in the Andes. People ate each other to survive.
In different engineering groups I have worked, the question comes up; would you eat someone to survive? Some people are appalled by this. I think survival instincts would overtake social norms.

I've eaten a lot of animals, I see Rick as no difference, senior back ribs sounds delish

Can someone explain to me the hatred of essentially children? I see so much blame being passed onto younger people here. We have been thrown into in some ways a massive shit show of a world, created by older generations. I will elaborate if needed. I see that as basically unarguable, yet I still don't have the desire to shame older people for whatever lack of virtue that could be perceived. Everybody is just trying their best. I dont see how projecting your own self-hatred into massive generalizations of large groups of people helps anything. Ironically, for people complaining about lazyness it seems to be a massively lazy opinion to have and provides nothing close to a solution.

At the very least how can we be blamed for laziness? I guess a better question is what is the incentive for not being lazy? I am now 21, I have worked since I was 13. Very relevant to this thread, the first job I started doing was contract IT work. Setting up linux machines for minecraft servers and writing/selling Java applets. Along with shoveling a lot of snow. I still do IT, and shovel/plow snow every winter. For these years of hard work, I get $23 an hour. I'm not blaming my employer, as if I wanted to I could 100% move along and find something better. I choose not to. If you saw the current entry level job market, along with the massive scam the higher education now is, you may choose the same. The economic stability of working is not obvious to me.

While I have done these things, I still see no need to bash people who dont. I think not wanting to work is very understandable. I don't think its unreasonable to say that industrialized society has failed in many ways. I think its a common sentiment among my generation, the Zoomers, that this system is pretty much no longer worth contributing to. Again, I can elaborate.

Also this nobody has really touched on the impact tech has had on my generation. We can very clearly see that the narrative thought in schools is not accurate, and the amount of information available to us has had major negative impacts. Are the people who are shitting on younger generations aware of the mental health impacts of the system we have? At least 50% of people I know my age suffer from depression and hopelessness. I have found for me that working hard, and not getting meaningful returns hasn't made like more meaningful. You can go on the internet and see many people (millions of others) share this opinion. How can we expect a generation largely devoid of meaning to want to contribute to a system that by its nature strips us of our individuality and provides very little in return.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading my ramblings. I know this isn't necessarily coherent but I'm not particularly articulate and its hard for me to convey everything though text. None of this comes from a place of hate, and please rip apart my logic if you want to.

My company is looking for help in IT now. It's possible there may be a Junior Developer role opening up soon as well. In the meantime you can search here:

If you have Java 8+ / Spark skills you are in the driver's seat at least in my department. The comp is good and for now we're all remote.

Yea all situations are unique but when everyone sucks, there’s usually a reason.

It’s a funny thing. What I see is that people who were once good start to slide into DGAF territory and for me, I hate the thought of doing that. I guess people just don’t self check when left to themselves.

Our boss gives people wide wide fucking leeway and you see what happens there. I don’t think kids that are 26 can be given endless rope and little/no direction. Oh and WFH in there. I’m trying to change the culture but I’m 1 guy.

There are people who were solid when I started a year+ ago that have definitely slid into less solid. There are many factors but I think there is a bit of a chameleon effect going on.

I kinda pride myself on GAF with what I do. Of course I was just put on my 9th concurrent project today which, well, you know how that tends to end up.

You are 100% correct that it is the older generations fault, they’re the ones responsible for raising your generation to be entitled and soft.
