What nuance of red should have @Pearl paint his 2014 EM SS to get $1500 for it? Let’s debate.

While I am not actively pursuing this deal ( the alleged seller is going to send pictures and confirm the shipping price once he verifies it with the post-offices se), I can’t picture how the scam would work , as he requests payment by PayPal goods which supposedly protect the seller in case of goods not being received. Maybe scamming PayPal itself ? But how would that work as they should have his personal details, bank account etc. Granted most criminals are stupid (at least the ones getting caught), but still...

Here is how I would do it,

Take payment
make fake shipping label
say it shipped no tracking
run the clock telling you its already been dropped off and the carrier isn't updating their site

they get the paypal $$ and bolt.
even if they refund you after a couple months, they still had the $$.
maybe they sell the bike 10x - it works for them, even if paypal gives your $$ back.

true story: wifey and I "mountain biked" through Croatian wine country in "the beforetimes" (yes, i know this comment is useless).

Sounds like a scam, don't do it.

Aaaaannnddd now there a beautiful 2015 blue El mar being sold in Tuxedo, NY...size medium! Can you stretch it to a large buddy?!?!?

Should I go with this and repurpose my current El Mar (which is exactly the same bike) to geared 650b+ ? $1K is a little steep and it doesn't include shipping.

It would be ideal for N+1 concealment from the wife. Decisions, decisions...I think I may have to pass, anybody interested please buy this bike so I don't, then we can be twinsies (my bike looks better because carbon fork though).

That bike is overpriced.

Besides being the ugly white paint job, pretty much every component on it is extremely low end. Brakes are OK, but crankset that weighs as much as the frame, junky stem/handlebars/seatpost.

While the wheels are heavy, those hubs have the nicest anodizing of any hubs I've seen.

True

Watch your mouth mister! It's the most connoisseur appreciated paint scheme, second only in appreciation to the fabled 2016 ruby red ( @Reggie , I cordially hate you).

But yes, the components are not that great, and that is being generous. That's why mine is now adorned with newer XT brakes and carbon everything else. In spite of the original wheels, it's the lightest bike I own, even lighter that the full carbon Mukluk.

Actually, just buy this one
Wrong year, wrong red, wrong dropouts. Being selective saves you money...I think I’m going to concentrate on 2016 only, apparently 2015 were cracking at the chain stay bends. Some nice colors that year though, minus the puke green SS that is...ideally, due to a number of mental issues I’d have to have all variation in size large for the year I already own OR the same graphic scheme in all different colors (puke green, shitty brown and ruby red). Sucks to be me.
