Bishop has this crazy SS setup where you can change gears
Like AXS?Gears with no cables is basically a Singlespeed.
Not sure where this thread turned from training for 2 different disciplines, to defending aging athletes and bike choice?
Oh right, DT blew up another one of his own threads by ranting off topic without any punctuation.
.
This is kinda how I felt after my first endurance races. I did my first century with 5500 feet of climbing in 2016 AFTER I raced the Fat bike series. I had no clue about nutrition and felt like I was gonna puke for four hours after the fat mayhem race. How is your power training going @BrianGT3? Haven’t read an update in a while.Lots of people told me to try endurance racing because its fun. I figured after doing a 100 mile charity road ride I should be okay. Little did I know.....
I did the erie 80 last year (42 miles) took nearly 5.5 hours. It sucked, I never knew so many muscles in my legs could cramp. Wrists hurt, then back hurt, then legs hurt/cramped, then hungry. Stop, drink, eat, feel okay then the cycle starts again. Somehow I got 5th in open men
XC is easier. I like being able to wake up, drive to race, do well and hang a bit, head home and still have late afternoon to do stuff and be functional. Its a challenge but not beat yourself up endurance racing challenge.
Endurance racing is wake up early, finish late, drive home tired AF, be dead the rest of the day and following day too. I may try another one but pretty sure I'm going to be miserable again haha.
Yes, but I am talking about endurance racing not just riding. To be good at endurance raci g intervals are required. Also, is hat I have found out with endurance races is you basically do a 2-3 hour xc pace race and then survive the rest of the time. Atleast that’s what the top group does.More people will be able to get better at endurance than xc. Long rides often with nice scenery and conversation with almost no hard efforts needed is a lot more appealing than interval efforts until you puke. And not to mention having the skills needed to ride techy terrain at 90% of your max.
essentially what I have done in endurance races...I have never trained for an endurance race, but I just ride my usual race until I die, then I try to get myself home for the next 2 hours....sounds similar to what alot of endurance racers tell me is their experience anyway....and they are training for these events. I find it to be a pretty miserable experience in general and once I proved to myself that I can ride for 4, 5, 6, 7 hours, I quickly lost interest in doing it. As @Pearl used to love to tell me...."bro, just ride easy and slow"....Which I cannot do in a race...Im not going to hang around and let @Dave Taylor just ride away, fuck that noise. 🙂have found out with endurance races is you basically do a 2-3 hour xc pace race and then survive the rest of the time. Not really, didn't you watch Dylan Johnson talking about his Croatan Buck Fifty race? It was an endurance/tempo paced ride for the first 125 miles, then he has a HUGE big effort at the end? Also, is hat I have found out with endurance races is you basically do a 2-3 hour xc pace race and then survive the rest of the time. 4-9 hoursI may have missed the answer to this question already but what is your definition of an endurance race?

Different than endurance mtb by a long shot. Not really, didn't you watch Dylan Johnson talking about his Croatan Buck Fifty race? It was an endurance/tempo paced ride for the first 125 miles, then he has a HUGE big effort at the end?
Granted, that endurance/tempo pace is on another level than ours.
