Dave, is 34x18 going to be your everywhere gear? That's pretty tall...at least for me.

No doubt. That's a pretty big gear for Wayway. Unless you're Rog...Or Monte, in which case it's tiny.
We'll be lookin to hit the trails again this weekend, if not sooner, so keep us aware of your plans Dave.

Yeah, that's too tall for most places for any length of time unless as EBODS mentioned you are among the chosen few.

I put that on to rip around Allaire, at the last minute I dent to Waway and was to lazy to change..

Last year my fav was 34/19 at the end of the year, somehow I feel stronger preseason than I did end of season. Did a quick road ride around GWL Friday night with Matt9er from TC. Absolute blast to ride with. When we get together its one attack after another.

BS50 will be done on a 32/19.

I can always sneak away for a few hours before I get home during the week, this week so far looks kind of relaxed compared to the last few. Sat I will be digging a footing with a rental excavator at the house. I should video it since I'll be right under an overhang.

Hopefully Sunday will see me in Waway for 5 hours giving the Misfit a thorough working over.

When I started SS 32x16 was the gold standard. I ran it everywhere, sometimes good, sometimes bad and sometimes it was a disaster. After a couple years I had all the gearing down to a tee, then came 29ers, I refused to gear down. The result was I got stronger and faster! My advise would be don't be afraid of the big gears, just practice with them first (better off alone) you sometimes will surprise yourself.

BTW: Single speeds and 29ers are so yesterday....

2 years ago <-- what the 'kids' say when something is outdated.

Monte,

You can be the pilot program for VTC in reguards to the 26 persuasion. I'll be switching it up to a 1X9 for some events this season, but I'm not sure I'll ever go back to a 'small bike'😀. BTW, Hump ride this Saturday???

I was riding a 26er the other day...my front tire hit an earthworm, got hung up and I flipped over the bars, breaking my collarbone. I'll stick to monster truck wheels, thank you.

Arrangements

I can't seem to get motivated to train now that Nate Dogg has passed on...what a loss....

“I love u buddy luv. U will always b wit me 4ever n a day u put the g n g funk u put the 1 n 213 n u put yo stamp on evrybdy u ever didit wit. All doggs go to heaven yo homie n baby brotha bigg snoopdogg!!” -snoop (not donald)

Funeral arrangements have not been announced. VTC will be using the corporate jet to attend this tragic loss.

Keep posted for an update of the departure time.

Peace, Love, and Hair Grease.

LOL, But I have to call your bluff. If you were truly on a 26er you would have been able to execute a maneuver know as a "turn" (nimble turning and 29er not in same dictionary let alone sentence) before the worm, avoiding said crash and subsequent injury.
I agree to 29 plows into stuff better but the 26 avoids the plowing into things in the first place..Plowing into things = not good, the last I checked....

I guess we'll just have to see at the races????

Why do 29er guys get so offended? Hmmm

Rog, pos for hump on Sat but may take my arse and desert dusty 26 to ringwood for epic...Possible Hilltop Sunday...

Message me..

Hahaha. Point taken.
Not offended at all...I just like mincing words! That story is actually true...ok so it was two years ago, the worm was a rock and the collerbone was my thumb, but the point is that the big wheels make a big difference in the technical stuff. That wheel would never had gotton hung up on that rock if it was of the Wagon variety. I'll concede that on a smooth course with lots of tight turns a 26er could possibly have a slight advantage in handling, and all this being equal, they are lighter.
Also, I think 29er's are way more comfortable for bigger (as in tall) guys like the VP, Prez, and me, who are all over 6'2". I do still own a
26er and the last time I got back on it, it felt like I was riding a twitchy little BMX bike.

You guys are racing me this year, right?

That depends. I'm racing you at Bearscat, but that might be it...I'm doing almost all endurance this year. Maybe CP or the VT50. Lemme know if you want to do the Ringwood epic this weekend.

I'll be right next to you on the start, and you better bring you 'A' game this year. I'll have to check what races we are both doing this year. One of my goals is to get to some other venues outside of the H2H series. Best of luck this season. It looks like you are off to a good start.

It might just come down to a brawl at the start line. Fat ass has been taking karate so watchout. he intimidates at Hooters and other fine UFC venues....

If that doesn't work out the Treasurer's wife can do it.....
