Same as Matty, on my 29'er I was 32-20. I think I'm 32-17 on my 26'er SS
Have you tried SS with your geared bike yet?
I'd have to imagine you re more likely to enjoy a geared bike especially with that riding up north. You can always choose to not shift gears, but you have options on a geared bike. Just my two cents from a noob.Nope, and can't
Im really fighting with myself to do this I'm really on the fence
Do you remember how it went when you upgraded your chainring! I thought about it as well, but honestly, don't want to invest in all that to have another bike that I won't use often enough to justify. I know you like to tinker so if it is something you can switch back and forth on the new bike that is a lil different, but also think about how much time you have to be tinkering and also ridingIm really fighting with myself to do this I'm really on the fence
Of all things on a bike the rear derailleur is the one I would not like to take on and off. The only thing worse would have been the front derailleur, if you still have it.
It's a provider of provlems
Not shifting gears is a way to try it, but it's not the same. With a dedicated SS the bike is both lighter, and more efficient. Pedaling all that extra crap around just to leave it in one gear....kinda defeats the purpose.I'd have to imagine you re more likely to enjoy a geared bike especially with that riding up north. I expect a report on my desk in the morningAll this really makes me want to put trail tires on my SS bike and give it a shot 🙂
True/false, I haven't a clue what gearing is on it? Lol. I'm prolly gonna do a whole lotta walking. Have to get the wheels from Patrick at jorbafest before I can outfit my SS with proper rubber. Will let you know the gears and if I'll ever ride it again when it happens.I expect a report on my desk in the morning

How far away are you from your new bike being built? Like someone else said, it's probably best to do if you have more than 1 bike so that it's more of an option than the only choice. But honestly, you can find a new rear wheel on the internet for like 60 bucks if you hate SS, so it's not like it's crazy expensive. Should also try to weigh the fact that this bike probably won't get much use once you get the new one built up, so it's best to keep the spending minimal on it.The more I think about it the more likely I'm going to make a bad decision and do it
