Between the races ...

Something that helped me with barriers and not jumping but running was to just practice running over them without the bike. Learn what it feels like to clear the barrier mid-stride. Then add the bike.

I never thought of that! I have pretty long legs so that in itself does make a difference. I've seen people who are vertically challenged 😀 lay their bikes more flat over the barriers rather than lifting them up higher to compensate. This is all very interesting reading, thanks for sharing.

That helped me big time. I used to jump horses and managing your horses stride smoothly was a major part. I found the rhythm without my bike first.

Also, by "kicking you bike out to the side" and swinging it around, you get the added benefit of reducing the space your competitors have to pass you.

Between the races ...

Add Long Island Supercross to your must do races. The race will be at Eisenhower Park, same location as last year. November 17-18. Sussex is the 18th 🙂, make this a double race weekend.

Ok good. My plan is to do the masters 35+ and the C race on Sat at super cross and do the c race at Sussex on Sunday.

Fortunately my in-laws live around the corner from Eisenhower Park and I live ten minutes from the fairgrounds.

Today was Round #1 of the NJBA Cyclocross Series. An amazing course as usual, designed by multi time National Cyclocross Champion Roger Aspholm. Mostly cloudy skies kept the projected sunny and 80 degrees hidden most of the day. Today I took over 425 pictures, some really excellent shots! This may take awhile so please check back. Hope you enjoy the racing!

I've been very fortunate to have made many friends from racing Cyclocross. Frank O' Reilly is at the top of the list!
