You pay a permit fee through USAC to setup a race and then you pay per participant for the insurance. I think it’s $4.25 per racer.

Actually, for MTB races this year, there is no permit fee. And it's $4.75 for insurance per racer for a competitive event, $3.75 for non-competitive event.

Yay no permit fee? That’s a plus. I thougt I heard individual fees were going up.

nice job pushing back by the local communities. Amateur racing needs support - would be nice if it was top-down.

I don't know if it applies to endurance MTB, etc. - I just know it's for MTB races. We'll take what we can get!

I'm sure if we just tell USAC - "it's ok, he wasn't really trying" - they'll charge us less!

I am told that the number of independent providers has gone down by 2 and the remaining ones are raising their fees. Word is the remaining indies are almost $7 a racer. I have not confirmed this.

We may be moving towards a zero sum game and a sun setting of the race scene a little bit more.

We did a bit of research and our insurance provider, McKay/Silent Sports is still sub-$5 per racer. It seems like all insurers had a nominal rate increase YOY, including USAC.

Ok that's good to hear, as that is our non-USAC provider, which we will be using in 2020.
