Tymor MTB race

I don't know. I really hope this isn't one of those things that gets forgotten next season.

I believe it's up to the promoters. Not all the races this year had cat 1 go early. LM and kvsp I think we're late cat 1 starts.

Has anyone seen the course? I got an email that CAT3 course is two, 3 mile laps. Is the place really that bad that they are only running us on half of the normal lap??

I'm driving almost 2 hours to get there, a 3 mile course is kind of disappointing given the distance and time I have to wake up to get there.

It's not super techy at all. The 2nd half of the course has a ton more climbing. They had 2 choices for cat 3, 1x5.5m lap or 2x3 mile loops. I haven't raced there since 2010 but I do remember the same thing was done then. I have no idea of the reasoning but there probably is a valid reason why. If you didn't reg yet jump up to cat 2 & get the mileage in. Who cares how you finish it's about challenging yourself. Good luck & have fun either way.

what happened? Thought all h2h races were going to be early starts for cat1/pro.

I think only the 1st 3 races (Blue, Wayway & Jungle) were earlier starts for cat 1. I like early starts.

congrats jeff on the series. all around good day. weather was beautiful and the course was fun. definitely worth the drive. i'll be back next year for sure.

Course was fun! It was nice to ride it dry for a change since I'm used to puddles, mud and slippery roots at that place. The Cat 2 loop was super fun and fast, there's some new single track that cut off what used to be a fire road climb and they built wood bridge-overs and rock ramps on the off camber trail. The climb starting across the road was the usual, but it didn't seem so bad today! Finished 3rd in women Cat 2 19-39. Times were not posted yet. Gorgeous day to close out the series.

How did everyone do today??

I thought it was a really nice course they had! For us beginners they cut off a 2.5 mile section right at the end and a lot of people were talking about the huge hill climb that was back there. I probably should have done a third lap and included it because there was a good amount of time between when I finished and when the cat2's started.

The climbing on the first half was not bad, and I loved the tight switchbacks with the off camber bridges in the last mile of the cat3 course. I wish that place was open to MTB from non-residents too, would be a fun place to revisit on non-race days.

I came in 7th but should be the overall winner of cat3 19-29 group. I will be upgrading to category 2 next season and will be in the 30-34 age group.

Now I need to focus on training now that it's getting colder, I don't want to have to build myself up again by slacking off over the winter.

Great job today and for the series Jeff! I'm hoping for another mild Winter so they'll be no excuses. You didn't miss too much by not doing the big climb, I almost wanted a mechanical as an excuse to abandon at one point. Pushed it through and it wasn't too bad, and happy with my finish.

Again, great series.

did my Cat3 race, before Cat1 started did Cat1/2 loop and and was not that hard with good warm up. It has some nice climbs and long downhill where I got some brake fade. I think Cat3 should be running full loop when NYS series has Cat3 doing 12 miles race.
For some reason there were many mistakes with timing/scoring.
